In an interview with a Swedish magazine (Göteborgsposten) Tony Estanguet, Chairman for the Paris Olympic committee, stated that he feels open to include eSports in the Olympic games program in a near future.

Paris and Los Angeles both raced to get the chance to hold the summer-games of 2024, but recently Los Angeles agreed to let Paris take the games on their turf and instead hold the 2028 year game. For Paris 2024 is special because it's exactly 100 years since Paris held the games in 1924.

Estanguet has made an obligation to discuss eSports being included with both the International Olympic committee and spokespersons for the event and sports in general.

E-sports has grown tremendously in popularity the last few years. With many millions of viewers and money flowing into the gaming-niche the Olympic's is seeing a chance to get more people interested in their event.

-"Young people, yes they are interested in e-sports and such. Let's look at it. Let's talk to them. Let's see if we can build any bridges."

An increasingly expanding market. Showing no signs of calming down.

If this would be the case, eSports would compete with sports like MMA, cricket, pool and boule about being one of the 5 extra sports that are included in every game (besides for the main sports of course). 2020 will be the year when we will know if eSports has a place into the Olympics but it's certainly is not looked upon with sourpuss faces by the Olympic management so it's looking pretty likely giving it's recent boom in popularity.

-"I do not want to say no from the beginning. I think it's interesting to combine IOK with the E-sport family to better understand why it's become so popular."

Who do you guys on Steemit think would win the first Gaming Olympics event? What game would they use? And do you think it's a good idea to include it with all other sports?.

I don't know if it's necessary to try to merge E-sports with traditional ones, but I believe that this could have a huge positive impact to the esports-scene.

I personally don't even follow traditional sports anymore, I'm going full speed on the esports-train and not even once have regretted that decision.

I agree with that it's probably not necessary to merge E-sports and traditional ones, mostly feels like the Olympics are trying to milk the eSports-money train. Same here mate, don't really have an interest in standard sports no more, love the feeling in the eSports arenas with all the lighting effects and stuff. Feels like being in a super computer with LED's and a bad-ass light-show program flipping crazy effects all over the place. Awesome!

Thanks for reading mate and sharing your opinion, peace!
