Interesting that you never played DMC until now, this game was awesome.
Loved it, never replayed it. I'm afraid it wouldn't stand up to my memories.
I was super hyped for DMC2 and to this day it's probably still the most disappointing sequel I've ever played. I beat it purely on principle, and returned it back when you could return games to shops within 7 days.
I've heard 3 was great, played a demo at e3 but never played the game.

The first game is quite good, I had not played it because at that time I did not have the Playstation 2, and after I bought the Playstation 2 I lost interest in that game.
Years later I played DMC3 but in PC, and you must play it, it's excellent.
I have heard that DMC 2 is not very good, especially because they change the gameplay a bit.
