In the past few days you might have seen the news that Ethereum miners are selling their cards because it is no longer profitable.
Is it just a temporary profit move to sell their rigs to gamers at a price way higher than what it was before the mining craze?
Think about it! A GTX 1060 with a MSRP of 200$ is now being sold at a price of 300$ or even 400$. Not forget that the card have been running for 24/7, so you can guess how good condition they possess. Since new GPUs have not arrived yet, those selling their rigs are keeping the prices up also.
If you're a gamer and want to take advantage of the end of cryptomining wait a couple of weeks to let the market be flooded with GPUs so you will get more competitive prices.
First gpu mining is still profitable.
Second miners sell gpu to buy cryptocurrency since it will be more profitable in the next few days
Third this cryptocurrency drop is caused mostly by bitcoin problem after it will be resolved price should go up again.
Honestly I don't understand why do u need a gtx 1060 when you can just buy gtx 660 and play any game.
I'm mainly meant mining Ethereum. With incraseing difficulty you can no longer mine that. Of course there are altcons, but those are just pure speculation with no exceptional feature. Just mine it and then sell it and that is over.
I doubt that you can play any game with a gtx660 with decent settings and a smooth fps.
Mining ethereum gives most profit for me so far.
whattomine
I got gtx660 sure I can't play on ultras but there is not much difference. Some games just lack optimization like dayz which can lag on any pc. I can even stream with that gpu in windowed or borderless windowed mode which requires even more resources.
