Hi Hivers, I had to share today's antics down the allotment.
When I took my allotment a few months ago, I knew it was going to be hard work, I had a plan and like all my plans they change, either due to the weather, family life, or my brain.
Like every time I go down the plot I end up changing my mind about something, and it's great because there is no one around, other than my wife who can tell when I am winging it.
Anyway back to today, I decided that I would have raised beds all the way down my allotment, I thought about how it would look and got to the building, then when I had got my first row of raised beds in, I changed my mind.
I decided to take them down and turn the soil, which I didn't really want to do as I was going for a no-dig approach, but the idea was to give myself something kind of level to work from.
I've added some woodchips for my paths and made the beds 12 feet x 4 feet, and I think that it looks better than when I first started.
I am leaving my apple tree in the middle of the path as I think it won't harm having to work around it.
The water buts are not staying there either, but again I could change my mind like I always do, anyway what do you guys think?

Hey mate artonmysleeve - this looks awesome. What is an "allotment" tho? Like some sort of small holding? Do you perhaps plan to create more posts, as I'd like to see your progress?
Thanks for the kind support on a recent post of mine. I'm glad you enjoyed my little nugget of original thought provoking literary content. I'd be ever so grateful if you perhaps consider "following" as well and supporting future content as well.
Thanks again, and hope to see more from your end as well :)
In the UK we have allotments, which stem back to wartime so families can feed themselves. it's not as big as a small holding as I believe they class a small holding as anything bigger than an acre.
The councils give a small space they class it as enough to grow for a family of 5 but I grew enough this year to feed 10 and I didn't put 100% into it either, as I have been busy on another project. next year I am planning on growing more.
I do plan on posting more content, I just haven't had the time over the past few months to get to sit down for an hour to post. even though I wish I could have.
