Well, it looks like I may have just attracted even more Japanese beetle to my garden by using the Japanese beetle trap.😒
On the box, it said to place it 10ft downwind from the foliage. So I placed it a bit further than the 10ft because I have a post out there holding my satellite radio antenna that I used to hang this trap on too, but now I have even more beetles!
I read an article online that says the beetle traps are the worst things to use because all they do is attract more beetles to the site and that if I do use a trap to put it 50ft or more away!
So today I moved the trap across the yard and my next step is to look for nematodes next time I am in town. The nematodes will eat the Japanese beetles at the grub stages and also see if I can find some Bacillus papillae ' milky spore powder' which I can put in in the spring.
The beetles have been eating the radishes, cauliflower, cabbage, and broccoli, but seem to be keeping off my zucchini, beans, peas, lettuces, peppers, onions, cucumber and tomato plant.

I wasn't quite paying attention to Sienna when she was planting the seeds but she planted them way to close together (I figured as much when I saw how short her rows were, lol), I also found lettuce mixed in with the beets..carrots mixed in the lettuce! Since it's her first time planting seeds, I didn't say anything to her, so then when it grew she would know next year not to plant everything so close together (lesson learned) and I just thinned some stuff out a wee bit. 😉
Next year I have other plans for what is going to be planted also how and where it will be planted. This year is mainly a trial and error, lol. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to comment!
try mixing insect frass or crab meal into your soil mixture. It will boost the plant immunity and really help with your pest problems. If you google insect frass you will find lots of good info on it. You can get it cheap on social media if you find a local mealworm farm instead of paying those really high hydroponic store prices.
Awesome, thanks for the pointer, I will look into it! :)
Man the bugs suck! Your peas and green beans are my favorite! 💗
The bugs do suck, big time! That food is for me not them! lol ;)
Hahaha you need to share, j/k
