One of the things I love about HIVE is you can always find like minded people - and there are a LOT of homesteaders and gardeners here that share their love of gardening and nature in this online garden of sorts! Natural Medicine has always supported this content as we believe that those that tend and care for nature are the stewards of the earth we need to support. If you rely on, and care for plants, chances are you feed your soul, and take good care of the earth they grow on - all part of the bigger 'healing' and 'natural medicine' theme.

Saying that, do check out and subscribe to Hive Garden community, which you'll find here, started by @skylinebuds. There's a few communities we support if you use the #naturalmedicine and #gardening tag - Ecotrain of course, but also Mushroom Growers and Funghi Lovers. WE're not community exclusive - as long as you are putting your hands in the soil, that's good for us!

Had to laugh, @plantstoplanks shared a musical tune from Australia in Discord this week - about Eatin' Weeds. So if you want to funk it up when you're reading the rest of this post, knock yourself out with this 'permaculture funk'.

Well nothing makes me whistle
like a salad with Milk Thistle
Rockin’ rolla Gotu Kola in the lawn
Yeah I ramble in the brambles,
leaning over for the Clover
If I lived with you your weeds would be all gone.

Where it’s wetter you can bet I’ll
Cook me up some stinging nettle
It tastes better with some feta in a pie
Or else I may just settle
for some sorrel or some fennel
C’mon why don’t you just give them all try?

Challenges

The #gardenjournal challenge starts on September 1 next month - see pinned posts or @riverflows's blog for more information then. Also, you might think about attempting to win some HIVE by emailing a tree - check it out here.

Some Posts Worth Checking Out

It's great to see people in full on Spring or Autumn, depending where you are in the world. This post by @m31 captures that enthusiasm of walking around the garden and enjoying all that it has to offer, as well as harvesting and getting witchy with some medicinal plants. She wins the part beneficiary for this post for the week - lots of detail and passion here!

@galenkp wrote about picking up some pretty groovy gardening tubs from Bunnings, great for the small backyard or beginner gardener and suited to a dry climate too, as they're self watering and even come with shade! Check them out here

Also loved this post by @buckaroobaby on making a salad from home grown sunflower sprouts - a perfect thing to get the kids to do. Bookmark this one for later!

Warm regards to @minismallholding as she takes a break for this week - life gets busy sometimes doesn't it? Speaking of which, I best go and spend some time in my garden - it's freezing out there but Spring is in the air! Catch you for the #gardenjournal challenge at the beginning of September! I thoroughly enjoyed covering this week - it's always a pleasure to focus solely on the garden posts on HIVE.

Let us know if you want to announce anything via the Lotus Garden newsletter - contact @minismallholding via Discord or the Natural Medicine Discord community.

What a gloriously green selection. Maybe @plantstoplanks should write that for the gardeners as a national anthem! Brilliant

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! I feel honored to be in company of so many amazing authors :) I love to see and read about what all the Hive's green thumbs are up to in their gardens, their experiences and lessons. It is so fascinating!
