Magnolia trees and global warming

Magnolia trees are blooming again in Luxembourg this year, and they are stunning. I would be an even bigger fan of them if they were not blooming only for one week a year.

But ... isn't it a bit early? I was a bit unsure ... third week of March seems a bit early, is it just an impression?

This is when I recalled that, some years ago, from this account, I had published another post featuring a blooming magnolia tree. Was it two, or three years ago ? I started scrolling and went back to ... 2019, five years ago !

Yet look at the time of the year: April 7th fully two weeks later than this year ...

Is that indicative or just random variation, I can't say, but have a look at this graph too.

It's the temperature anomaly in the North Atlantic sea surface. Pretty scary if you ask me.
