The future of grocery shopping...

You may already heard of the Amazon's check-out free grocery store that just opened. Further north, you find that Sobey's grocery store in Canada is gearing up for storeless online order delivery.

Two different methods. Which way are we headed long term? Both are solving problems, but it seems Amazon is trying to solve a temporary problem. Sobey's (amongst many others) seem to be looking towards the long term future.

Most that I speak to do not want to shop. No doubt. You rather have the time to do what you want when you want. It might be fun once in awhile to go grocery shopping but unless you are interacting with people (like open street markets in Europe), the chore becomes a task.

Star Trek seemed to have nailed it right when they promoted the replicator. That probably is the final future for grocery acquisition. Maybe a step before that, having to pay with it with touch-less bitcoin transactions (most likely a a layer over it, like the lightning network).

In any case, the race is on. Two main different ways. I know I rather be ordering from the comfort of wherever I am, and finding my food at home when I get there!
