Guess what I am game round #1 on Steemit

in #guesswhatiam8 years ago (edited)

Just having a little fun here with games at my little corner. You know the little drinking game we play "Guess what i am ?" using cards? Basically, we write a character name on the card and pass it to the friend sitting beside us. And then, we stick it on our forehead. And then we let our friends guess what i am. My favorite drinking game :-)

In this game that i am organizing here, it is similar. I have a person in mind. I will give 3 clues and you have to guess what i am.

Prize

SBD 2 + 30% of this post SBD payouts. If no one can answer correctly, the prize will be rolled over to next round.

Rules

1. Only 1 answer each per participant in the comments below.

2. The first person to get the correct answer wins the prize.

3. You can ask questions in the comments below and i will give only give you a Yes or No answer. So an example of a good question would be "is he married?"

4. I will announce the answer and winner at payouts.

Round 1

Clues

1. I am a female mathematician

2. I am British

3. I am dead

Ready, get set, go!

Sort:

Phyllis Nicolson

Let's go with Augusta Ada Byron King, Countess of Lovelace. She was more or less the first female computer scientist. I learned this from a cheap Google search for "dead female British mathematicians." I tried to figure it out without google, but got nowhere so I figured I'd just cheat my way to the possible win. :)

Not cheating. That's logical :)

And yes, you won Guess what I am game round #1 !
The answer: Ada Lovelace http://www.history.com/news/10-things-you-may-not-know-about-ada-lovelace
The reason why i chose her is that she is one of the earliest computer programmer and a computer program language was actually named after her and the language is called "ada"

Round 2 tomorrow. Won't be easy. Watch out for it :-)

Hooray!!!

Florence nightingale

Good try! Amazingly some eerie similarities between Grace Chisholm Young and Ada Lovelace

  1. British
  2. Female Mathematicians
  3. Both of their husbands are called William........

Trick question... girls can't math!

I'd go with Ada Lovelace as well :)

Ruth Lawerence

Cool idea, first time I ever saw this game was in the movie Inglourious Basterds. Looks like game was solved, so I'll refrain from answering

That is one of my all-time favorite movies as well. I first played this game in Austria with some colleagues :-) Very popular there :-)

did she pass away before 2000?

Yes

had she ever been married?

Yes :-)

Need to go to lunch now. So... Grace Chisholm Young.
If I am right, then please give 80% of the prize to @valenttina . :p

oh, by the way, NICE to see you post again! and this time is my favorite - fun and game!!

haha will be having round 2 tmr :-)

Good try! @deanliu

not good enough! :p

Does her last name start with a vowel?

No. :-)

What about her first name?

You mean if her first name starts with a vowel?

Is her husband name William?

Yes

A couple of questions to leave the degeneracy:

  1. Has she worked with Charles Babbage?
  2. Is she Scottish?
  1. Yes
  2. No
    :-)

Then I lost. @biophil was first ^^ Ada Lovelace is the answer, a great lady according to her bio.

Maybe it is the timing of my post

Jajaja that's curious. Anyway, I loved the game! Thanks, I'll be waiting for the next one
