The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted a drive in the capital's Haj Agency on charges of embezzlement of money. On Monday noon, Enforcement team of the ACC conducted a raid on Hajj agencies in Purana Paltan area.
ACC Public Relations Department sources said that under the jurisdiction of some unscrupulous government officials and employees, allegations of misappropriation of money from 115 hajj pilgrims were found in the name of a hajj agency by the broker. In this context, the Enforcement Team of the ACC conducted a sudden drive in the Haj Agency of Al-Mujdalifa Aviation located in Medina Tower of Purana Paltan.
A seven-member team, including a police led by Assistant Director Masudur Rahman, participated in the operation. Four teams of Haj pilgrims received complaints and information during ACC team operation. Apart from the agency's trade license and other information including e-TIN, it is collected. The ACC team also knew about the complication of the registration of 115 pilgrims. The agency officials told the ACC that they will take appropriate measures to resolve the complications.
The ACC also got complaints against several irregularities during the operation in three other agencies located in the area.
ACC Director-General (Administration) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, coordinator of the Enforcement campaign, said that the ACC's campaign was aimed at freeing the pilgrims from corruption. The campaign will be continued for this year to clear the corruption and harassment of Hajj activities.
