Warning signs of a stroke

Once the body flow to the brain and brain cells start dying, a stroke happens. It happens to more than a third of those hospitalizes under 65 years of age.
Big risk factors are high blood pressure, smoking and high cholesterol.
A lot of these can happen hours, days and even weeks in advance.

Arm weakness:

It’s usually concentrated on side. It’s recommended to raise your arms above the head once this happens.

Face drooping:

Does one side of the face droopy or lopsided? It is recommended to ask the person to smile in order to see if their smile is lopsided or uneven.

Speech difficulty:

Trouble in speaking clearly and slur words are often signs of stroke. It is suggested to ask the person to repeat what they are saying in order to sure if they are slurring.

Severe headache:

Most of these symptoms can occur in way of a migraine. So, it would be worth the try if you ask the person if a headache he/she is experiencing is out of the ordinary for them. Always call for medical help if in doubt.

Changes in vision:

Sudden blindness or double vision can be a sign of an impending stroke.

Confusion:

Sudden confusion can mean an uncharacteristic inability to understand articulate thoughts or other people.

Balance issues:

Some people experiencing stroke may have sudden issues with coordination and balance.
If you’re unsure, you may ask the person to walk in a straight line or to touch their finger to their nose.
