We all enjoy a good laugh, but beyond the fun in laughing, there are many health benefits associated with laughing. Studies of different forms and from different people have shown and proved that laughter has the capacity to reduce the pressure of blood, engender a strong immune system as well as relieve stress, anxiety and pain. Many a times, what we need is very often very far from us; it is always within.
One may ask, how does laughter improve the body's immune system?
Anytime you laugh, some molecules are being released in the brain and these molecules are designed and structured to fight stress and some diseases in the body. Endorphins, a natural body chemical that makes us feel good are being released into the body when we venture into laughter. When this chemical is being released, into the body, the body experiences a sense of well-being and it can even make you temporarily forget any pain you might have been feeling at the moment.
Laughter can aid your blood pressure vessels to function properly and effectively, thereby increasing blood flow in your system. It is worthy of note that an improved blood flow shows that ones heart is protected from heart attack and other cardiovascular issues. Proper blood flow also prevents one from hypertension, the silent killer.
More so, laughter can help you burn some calories. Although laughter can and should never take the place of exercise, studies show that when you eventually laugh for about 10 - 15 minutes in a day, you might burn about 40 calories which could translate to losing 3 or 4 pounds in a year.
Laughter can equally improve your mental health. It dowses anger, bitterness, resentment and pain. It lightens your mood, fosters happiness, liveliness and excitement. On the other hand, it eases anxiety, and strengthens resilience. These will, of course, strengthen your relationship with people, enhance teamwork and attract people to you cause happiness and laughter is contagious.
People with a strong sense of humour outlive those who do not laugh as much - an outcome of a research being conducted by some fellows in Norway. The difference was particularly notable for those battling with cancer.
Friends of steem, it does not cost you anything to laugh; laughter is cheap and free, and it is medicine to your soul. Laugh as much as you can and be happy always. Do not let anything attempt to steal your joy and happiness away. Say no to frowning; it is never a good way to live. Laughter is healthy and your health is your wealth. Make laughter a habit and lifestyle.
MAKE IT A CHOICE TO HAVE A GREAT DAY!
