Bath salts are a wonderful way to take a relaxing bath to the next level, but did you know that they actually help your body rid itself of toxins? You see, we are exposed to harmful toxins constantly in our daily life and while our bodies have a natural way of removing these toxins, sometimes it needs a little help. So what can you do? Well, taking a detox bath is one of the easiest and most relaxing ways to help your body with the detoxification process. Let me show you how;
The ingredients that you use are really up to you, it could be as simple as Epsom Salt and Baking Soda, or you could add some detoxifying clays and mineral rich salts plus a few herbs to take it up a few notches.
Here is a description of the ingredients I use and why they are perfect for your detox bath.
Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate)- is known to remove toxins while soothing sore muscles, aches and pains, all while providing a source of magnesium that most individuals are deficient in.
Ancient Sea Salt- has a supremely rich mineral composition of magnesium, potassium, sodium, calcium, bromide, sulfur, zinc and many others which are absorb into the body while soaking. It has been known to relieve skin conditions, alleviate arthritis, soften skin, heal wounds, and replenish much needed minerals while removing impurities.
Kanolin, French Green or Bentonite Clay- These clays have the ability to pull toxins from skin while softening, removing dead skin cells, and soothing sensitive skin.
Baking Soda- has the ability to help neutralize ph levels in your tap water while assisting your body to absorb the minerals present in the clay and salts you will be adding to the bath.
I also like to add a variety of herbs to my detox bath salts for their healing properties. Some of my favorite herbs to include are Lavender, Chamomile, Rose Petals, Witch Hazel and Arnica. You could also add a few drops of your favorite essential oils for a nice scent.
The process is pretty simple here, just combine equal parts of Epsom Salt, Sea Salt, Clay and Baking Soda. Then add your selection of herbs, and give it a good mix.
Then simply store in an airtight container and use ½ cup per bath.
It is normal to feel slightly light headed or dizzy after taking a detox bath, so be sure to drink plenty of water before and after and be careful when exiting the bathtub. These bath salts are also amazing, beautiful and simple to make gifts for family and friends, so just find a pretty jar and you are set!
Thank you for reading,
What a wonderful gift idea! Especially combined with @walkerland's DIY cloth jar lid covers, it would be beautiful in a glass jar thanks to the colorful herbs. Resteeming just so I can find it again :)
I have used a lot of these ingredients in detoxing protocol! My sister has had success using epsom salts and lavender with her son who seemed (to me) to be having over exposure to heavy metals as a result of vaccines... though she didn't want to admit it out loud... it has been helping him tremendously! The lavender, specifically, is supposed to work with the epsom salts to remove metals if I remember correctly what she had read.
Your pictures make natural detoxing look so luxurious! :)
Excellent post! Resteemed!
Awww thank you Erinn! I'm so glad your sister has had good results with it. Lavender is such an amazing super power herb, I haven't found a recipe yet that couldn't benefit from it. Thank you for the support ❤
Nothing better than a hot relaxing bath with health benefits :) Thanks for sharing. I love reading your posts and seeing what I can do for myself or others .
So true! What a wonderful excuse right? Thank you so much!
I have to rent a bathtub one of these days and detox all day and maybe throw in a bit of the old face eating just for kicks. Also once again, your pictures are so crisp and vivid.

Love how Simple this is. I'm Bad at Soaking in General but know how Medicating it is for the Body. The small tubs have always been my Filter.
I think I can do this. I have been wanting some bath salts and you reminding me now I can plan to grow flowers and herbs needed. I love it! Gonna Resteem!
Thank you so much for the resteem!. Yes, you 100% can do this, it's so easy. Also, calendula or even dried marigold gives it a beautiful look as well, work with what you have available. They are heavenly. Thanks so much for the support ❤
Your bath salts sounds heavenly @llfarms, thanks for the recipe :)
Thank you!
these soaking salts are wonderful treats to give yourself! thank you for the easy-to-follow recipes (and the addition of baking soda, i knew i had been forgetting something).
The baking soda makes a big difference in my opinion. They are such a nice way to pamper yourself. Thank you so much!
Thank you for a simple and beautiful recipe for healing bath salts. They are such a treat!
I enjoyed the read. I have utilized epsom salts for some time. Consider the color of them though when selecting salt. Unfortunately they're often white due to having been bleeched.
This looks heavenly! Thanks for sharing your process.
