Yeah that's true,
I've seen many people do isolation exercise, focusing only on single body part and avoiding others.
I recently saw someone at the gym doing a isolation exercise for about 30 min and that to at the start of the workout.
Always start with compound exercise first and then throw 2-3 isolation exercise.
The truth is that if you really want to gain muscle, you need to focus on big compound lifts 80% of the time.
My favorite compound lifts are:
Incline barbell bench press, Barbell row, military press (barbell and dumbbell), chinups/pullsups. If you focus on these exercises 80% of the time, you'll gain more muscle than if you just isolated all muscle groups.
