Nitrosamines and various substances that are used for external processing of fruits and vegetables bear the greatest danger to human health when using these products.
Germany has always been famous for the exacting quality of goods and services. No less demanding are the Germans and the quality of food. And recently, scientists in this country conducted a study that helped them identify the most contaminated products. Researchers from the German Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety have found that the least amount of chemicals is found in seasonal vegetables and fruits, such as apples, potatoes, carrots and beets. They can be safely called the safest.
But at the same time, experts also found products in which the pesticide rate has been exceeded several times. The most dangerous chemical compounds are found in legumes (7.6%), fresh herbs (6%) and tea (4.8%). The most interesting is that the most polluted herbs were imported products imported from Ethiopia or Israel.
German experts also classified early eggplants (3.4%) and sweet peppers (3.0%) as products that are not recommended for pregnant women, young children and pensioners because of the high concentration of pesticides.
The second country that published its data on this account was the United States of America. American researchers called the most dangerous and polluted berries strawberries. Scientists said that 100% of the samples were hazardous pesticides. Further on the level of contamination steel spinach, imported apples, pears, nectarines, grapes, celery and cherries. The last in the list of dangerous products are sweet peppers and tomatoes.
Specialists from the US also recommended preference for seasonal products grown in the local climate zone and try to avoid imported fruits and vegetables that are specially treated with pesticides so that they do not spoil on the way.
