QUITTING SUGAR | Thought Sandwich

I honestly feel like I'm losing my mind right now.
I knew a sugar detox was though, but this is ridiculous.

When I was a kid, my reward was sugar and when my mom came back from the store she always brought candy of some sort.

When you eat something that addictive for more than 20 years, quitting is pretty hard.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that I’ve had a headache for 4 days straight and that no number of pills has made it go away.
I literally have a reoccurring dream about a peanut butter chocolate cake and even if I don’t, I still wake up sweaty, cold and exhausted.
My arms feel like overcooked spaghetti, if I laugh it feels like my eyes might pop out and I’m hiding in a corner because the frickin’ sun is bothering me.

I honestly feel like a meth addict and I don’t even know how they feel.
But saying ‘’I want to work from the library tomorrow, I’m way more productive there’’ just because the store that sells my favorite cookies is right next to it, sounds like something a meth addict would say.
Andrej just stared at me with his mouth wide open when I admitted why I wanted to work there.

I feel incredibly proud of myself and there’s no way I’m going to quit again, not when I’ve come this far.
But sugar has always been a comfort for me, a nice little dopamine kick when things weren’t going my way.

So yeah, last week when I had to have a small procedure done, I was upset and ate a pack of cookies.
And the next day I ate another one + chips.
And on the 3rd day I ate another one and threw up.
It was like my body was literally saying ”Nope, were done, no more of that shit”.

So, we made the decision that I would quit cold turkey.

And I’m aware that I’m doing the right thing and this is going to make me healthier, happier and I’ll have more energy, but it’s hard to keep telling myself that when I feel this miserable.

Did any of you guys go through this as well?
If you did, I would be eternally grateful for any tips on how to get through this!
