It is time to remind any good programmer with enough time and will that Steem's biggest defect is the premine part in its history, that will forever haunt it.
The only way is to go another way, and I do not mean to go to any currently existing social media, but to create a duplicate of Steem that will start from a scratch (no content) and this will spare creation of an image and will get rid of premined stakes and spam at once and all the users will start from some uniform initial stake.
The rest of the rules (code) can be copied from Steem and changed later.

I doubt it and I think that the much bigger problem is to find a source of constant funding for the web hosting and development and I believe that it should be the witnesses job as well.

There are over 100, and the number 21 is not holy.
It could start with 15 and rise when possible, which will not take more than a few months in the worst case.

That is incredibly unfair to investors, specially initial investors, considering we only have steemit at all because of them. You can only rant about steem today because it is already here.
