Notre Damme becomes Disneyland... I could see it being a sentence out of dome Parisian Rao from the late 90's. Not only because it rhymes, but it has a lot of meaning.
But I sad to say... sadly, it's not just a artistic metaphor... it's one evidence for the sad state of affairs we live in today... As if we needed something else to disagree with, where we have it. One of the major constructions f the world... will now lose all its charm and authentic.
It all started when the Cathedral burned down, a couple of years ago. I even chipped in with a contribution for it's restoration... (Little did I know) And let's not even get into the "mysterious nature" of the fire.
There it was, this colossal piece of work, one of the major architectural wonders of the world, who was built in 1100's and took a century to get built, was now 900 years later burning. It had already suffered many attacks, like in the French revolution, where many of its imagery and art was lot forever, but let's not get into that.
My point is to talk about today. After the burning happened, some very bizarre, "modern" restoration projects, where presented. Thankfully, at the time, those projects where met with tremendous outrage. Very legit response.
But now, cut to chaos in the world, where in Paris you can't even buy a croissant, and bam! It's presented again, and it seems is going ahead...
The French autoraties are all into it. The Vatican seems to be ok with it... and basically Notre Damme, might now be changed.
What in the world is going on?
Hope this ends up, not going ahead but changes might include, a new "modern" aka ugly roof.
And the best part? ... Of course it will have little guided tours, where you get a headphones and you walk around, just like disneyland. And the best part? Of course it's all about other religions and Buddism and trancendental meditation... any thing other than Christian. Fantastic.
For a world who seems to be obsessed, with "real" and "authentic", be yourself. Real people. bla bla bla... It surely seems like keeping one of the biggest constructions ever, "real and authentic" is not even a consideration.
This was built 1000 years ago... and it has suffered many attacks... it's still here. And now... under this mascarade of "inclusive" we are going to really steal all it's, glory, meaning, propose and history?
No respect to the people who build it, so long ago? It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary... Is there something wrong with it? The people who made it, don't have the right to build such wonders as they see fit?
Imagine if the Taj Mahal, had a fire and then we announce that will change it quite a bit and make it a disneyland thing, all bout Jesus. Would this fly?
I think people would loose all sense of reason if that was the case. But, since it's a Catholic monument... "no problem"... "It's even good" to completely "modernize it".
All must be authentic, but Christian must be modernised.
I mean, it's such a joke it's even hard to talk about it.
I do understand... for example, the big, big idea of the so called "dark ages", where everyone was stupid and nothing was done and no art was created and no one knew anything, and nothing was built... I mean... it's kinda hard to keep that narrative going when you have buildings like this one.
What a joke.
