Hi everyone!
As you already know from my previous posts, in Lviv you can see not only a huge number of conceptual restaurants, but also a lot of old churches and cathedrals.
Today i would like to tell you about a very lucky church called "Church of the Lord's Transfiguration".
How the church can be lucky? Sounds little bit strange, isn't it? So this is a proof of that:
Remember my post about the church of Olga and Elizabeth? There you can see the iron stairs that have holes from the balls. In this case you will be shocked.
What you see on the photo is a shell that did not explode 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱.
During the Ukrainian-Polish battle for Lviv, January 6, 1919 a shell hit the church but fortunately it didn't explode. It destroyed part of the cornice but the architect restored it quickly.
In memory of this, the shell was injected into the wall and the signature "5.1.1919" appeared near this trophy.

what an incredible story! I'm not very religious, but the symbolism is very powerful, and I'm sure it has helped many people both during that time of conflict and onwards. Thank you for sharing!
It's quite amazing how a church could not have been blown up by a shell. That's more than luck.
I'd like to call it Grace.
