Mi nombre es María Mercedes Rivera García, o Mary como cariñosamente me llaman mis amigos, nací el 4 de noviembre de 1988, en Las Tunas, mi niñez fue feliz, a pesar del divorcio de mis padres a una edad muy temprana, pero ellos se encargaron de quererme y educarme en un ambiente de armonía y de buena comunicación. Siempre me gustó la música, encontré en ella el refugio y vía para momentos felices y tristes. Además, participé en competencias de voleibol, de gimnasia aeróbica, concursos de conocimientos escolares, festivales de Cine Debate a nivel Nacional, así como competencia de Tai Chi en la provincia de Camagüey.

My name is María Mercedes Rivera García, or Mary as my friends affectionately call me, I was born on November 4, 1988, in Las Tunas, my childhood was happy, despite the divorce of my parents at a very early age, but they took care of loving me and educating me in an environment of harmony and good communication. I always liked music, I found in it the refuge and way for happy and sad moments. In addition, I participated in volleyball competitions, aerobic gymnastics, school knowledge contests, Film Debate festivals at the national level, as well as Tai Chi competition in the province of Camagüey.

En un municipio de esta provincia tuve una experiencia maravillosa, participé en una pasarela sobre el Body Art, fuimos varias las chicas que aun sin tener las características ideales para ser modelos llevamos el arte en el cuerpo.

In a municipality of this province I had a wonderful experience, I participated in a catwalk on Body Art, we were several girls who even without having the ideal characteristics to be models we carry the art in the body.

Soy Licenciada en Rehabilitación Social y Terapia Ocupacional, graduada en el año 2011. Desde ese año hasta la fecha he trabajado en diversos lugares, todos han dejado una huella en mí. Tuve la oportunidad como Terapeuta Ocupacional de interactuar con pacientes que además de padecimientos físicos necesitaban el apoyo emocional y la alegría que en sus casas no tenían. Recuerdo con cariño a dos pacientes, una niña de apenas 6 años con Parálisis Cerebral Infantil muy agresiva y que los padres no habían logrado que entregara los objetos solo sabía lanzarlos provocando lesiones a quien estuviera cerca, luego de 6 meses de mucho trabajo, la niña moderó su agresividad y ya entregaba los objetos en la mano de quien se lo pidiera. El otro paciente, fue un señor de 70 años con una Hemiplejia Derecha con el que tuve que aprender a bailar danzón y recopilar toda la música que a él le gustaba para estimularlo a que participara en los ejercicios terapéuticos.

I have a degree in Social Rehabilitation and Occupational Therapy, graduated in 2011. From that year to date I have worked in various places, all have left an imprint on me. I had the opportunity as an Occupational Therapist to interact with patients who in addition to physical ailments needed emotional support and joy that they did not have at home. I fondly remember two patients, a girl of only 6 years old with Infantile Cerebral Palsy who was very aggressive and whose parents had not been able to get her to hand over objects, she only knew how to throw them causing injuries to whoever was near, after 6 months of hard work, the girl moderated her aggressiveness and was already handing over objects to whoever asked her to do so. The other patient was a 70 year old man with right hemiplegia with whom I had to learn to dance danzón and compile all the music he liked to stimulate him to participate in the therapeutic exercises.

Trabajé en Círculos de Abuelos, Hogares de Ancianos, Centros de Salud Mental y Hogares Maternos. También trabajé en lugares ajenos a mi Licenciatura como en una corresponsalía de Televisión y un telecentro haciendo la conducción de programas de participación. Actualmente trabajo en el Instituto de Geología y Paleontología, Servicio Geológico de Cuba.

I worked in Grandparents' Circles, Nursing Homes, Mental Health Centers and Maternity Homes. I also worked in places other than my degree, such as in a television correspondent's office and a telecenter conducting participation programs. Currently I work at the Institute of Geology and Paleontology, Geological Service of Cuba.

Aunque soy oriunda de la provincia de Las Tunas, viví unos años en Camagüey pero retorné a mi tierra natal. Vivo actualmente en La Habana con mi niña de 10 años, motor impulsor para superarme cada día más. Mi familia es pequeña, todos viven en Las Tunas lugar que frecuento dos veces al año y afloran sentimientos nostálgicos en mí en cada visita.

Although I am a native of the province of Las Tunas, I lived for a few years in Camagüey but I returned to my homeland. I currently live in Havana with my 10 year old daughter, a driving force to better myself every day. My family is small, they all live in Las Tunas, a place I visit twice a year and nostalgic feelings arise in me in each visit.

En esa provincia formé parte de la creación de un proyecto llamado AVALON Producciones, que utiliza la dermocosmética natural como alternativa para la belleza y cuidado de la piel y el cabello a través de sus productos artesanales con ingredientes naturales.

In that province I was part of the creation of a project called AVALON Producciones, which uses natural dermocosmetics as an alternative for the beauty and care of skin and hair through its handmade products with natural ingredients.

¿Cómo supe de Hive?
Les cuento que por esas casualidades de la vida estaba en el lugar correcto y en el momento preciso, mis compañeros de trabajo me invitaron a un intercambio sobre cómo funciona Hive y sus bondades, gracias a ellos descubrí un mundo apasionante por lo que decidí crearme un perfil. Acepto que todavía me comporto un poco incrédula, pero disfruto aprender, compartir lo que escribo e investigo y busco satisfacer mis ansias de conocimiento en las comunidades. Sé que tengo mucho que aprender en esta plataforma, pero todo está en comenzar y el interés que le ponga, además de muy buenos amigos que me irán guiando. Gracias a todos por aceptarme, ya nos iremos conociendo en las comunidades y aprendiendo cada día más en este maravilloso mundo que ha creado Hive.

I tell you that by those coincidences of life I was in the right place at the right time, my coworkers invited me to an exchange about how Hive works and its benefits, thanks to them I discovered an exciting world so I decided to create a profile. I accept that I still behave a bit incredulous, but I enjoy learning, sharing what I write and research and I seek to satisfy my craving for knowledge in the communities. I know I have a lot to learn on this platform, but it's all in starting and the interest I put in it, plus very good friends who will be guiding me.
