El pasado sábado 16 de marzo la alegría y la armonía llegaron a la comunidad de Playa Baracoa en el municipio Bauta de la provincia Artemisa. La Fiesta del Mar se realizaba por primera vez. Una iniciativa organizada en conjunto por proyecto de desarrollo local: Por nuestro entorno y la Casa de la Cultura Comunitaria donde trabajo. Desde Enero comenzamos la planificación de los preparativos para está actividad que sirvió para celebrar en esta comunidad costera el Día Mundial del Mar que se conmemora mundialmente el 17 de marzo.

Se había acordado empezar la fiesta a las 9 am y yo siendo parte del equipo organizador arrive temprano al lugar. Se me pidió aportar vasos para repartir una merienda a los participantes.Asi que me diriji a casa de Imilsi la promotora del proyecto y posteriormente hacia Casa de Angela la coordinadora de ese proyecto de desarrollo local para ayudarla a traer varias cosas necesarias para la actividad. Ellas viven frente a la costa y su proyecto se encarga de cuidar y animar esa franja costera donde está la playa y las familias vienen a disfrutar del mar.

Temprano llegaron también mis invitados de la Habana. Martha Pérez Viñas y José Manuel a pesar de la distancia y las dificultades con el transporte en nuestro país hicieron el largo viaje interprovincial para estar con nosotros. Vino también Anita del movimiento de la Alegremia. Otro motivo importante para esta fiesta era la educación de la comunidad para conocer más sobre los beneficios del agua de mar para la salud y el cuidado del medio ambiente.

Se dió el encuentro fraternal entre los invitados y el equipo del proyecto Por Nuestro Entorno. Era la primera edición de la Fiesta del Mar y yo tenía mucho interés de conectar personas con saberes de otros lugares con la comunidad,y así traer experiencias y conocimientos útiles a nuestra gente.

Sobre las 9 comenzamos la primera e importante tarea del día: la limpieza de la playa. Cuidar el ecosistema es muy necesario,no solo para poder disfrutar de la playa, sino también para el cuidado de la vida misma.

A los trabajadores de limpieza del proyecto y su directiva, nos sumamos los Instructores de Arte de la Casa de la Cultura Comunitaria con nuestros alumnos y sus familiares, los invitados de la Habana, miembros de otras organizaciones que asistieron ese día y todos los vecinos y visitantes que quisieron sumarse a esta necesaria tarea.

Después de un par de horas trabajando en la limpieza de la playa, nos reunimos todos para escuchar las charlas de salud. Primero habló Marthica, Máster en Medicina Natural y tradicional, así como también Coordinadora del movimiento Alegremia en Cuba. Nos enseñó sobre la forma correcta de respirar y sobre la importancia del cuidado de los ecosistemas y recursos naturales.

Después José Manuel ,profesor de profesión y miembro del movimiento por el uso saludable del agua de mar, nos explicó los distintos usos que este preciado líquido tiene para la salud humana. Sus palabras estuvieron basadas en la experiencia internacional y en las suyas propias. Sus conocimientos obtenidos en más de 10 años usando el agua de mar hicieron su charla muy motivadora para la comunidad.

Continuando con las actividades, llegó el momento de presentar la coreografía que nos trajo Milanis, una de nuestras Instructoras de Danza en la Casa de la Cultura. Estábamos haciendo la Fiesta sin audio pues se había ido la electricidad poco antes de comenzar, así que Milanis y sus pequeñas bailarinas hicieron su baile con un pequeño equipo con baterías. Fue una linda experiencia ver las pequeñas haciendo su arte con toda la motivación para su público.

Continuando la parte artística convocamos a todos a sumarse a dibujar en la arena. La profe María y yo con nuestros alumnos de la Casa de la Cultura decidimos hacer un gran pez en forma de relieve en la arena. Los niños se motivaron mucho y participaron activamente. Algo que aprendí es que cuando se moja la arena esta se puede manipular mejor y los relieves quedan concisos y más duraderos.

Terminamos el gran Pez dejando nuestras huellas en sus escamas a modo de firma de sus creadores . Tuvimos que acelerar la realización de la imagen pues ya el amigo Sol estaba en lo alto y sus rayos incidian fuertemente sobre nosotros. Fue una experiencia innovadora para todos y que abrirá las puertas para futuros proyectos de arte sobre la arena....

Al final tuvimos la belleza y la brisa del Mar. El equipo organizador de esta primera edición de la Fiesta del Mar nos reunimos a compartir experiencias y sueños. La directiva del proyecto: Por nuestro entorno, los instructores de la Casa de la Cultura, invitados del Citma y de la Habana, nos dimos un gran abrazo espiritual pues lo más importante para todos es esa labor necesaria para la salud del mar y el bienestar de nuestra gente.

Around 9 o'clock we started the first and important task of the day: cleaning the beach. Taking care of the ecosystem is very necessary, not only to be able to enjoy the beach, but also to take care of life itself.

In addition to the cleaning workers of the project and its directive, we joined the Art Instructors of the Casa de la Cultura Comunitaria with our students and their families, the guests of Havana, members of other organizations that attended that day and all the neighbors and visitors who wanted to join in this necessary task.

After a couple of hours working on cleaning the beach, we all gathered to listen to the health talks. First Marthica, Master in Natural and Traditional Medicine, as well as Coordinator of the Alegremia movement in Cuba, spoke. She taught us about the correct way to breathe and the importance of taking care of ecosystems and natural resources.

Then José Manuel, a professor by profession and member of the movement for the healthy use of seawater, explained the different uses of this precious liquid for human health. His words were based on international experience and his own. His knowledge gained in more than 10 years using seawater made his talk very motivating for the community.

Continuing with the activities, it was time to present the choreography brought to us by Prof. Milanis, one of our Dance Instructors at the Casa de la Cultura. We were doing the Fiesta without audio because the electricity had gone out shortly before starting, so Milanis and her little dancers did their dance with a small equipment with batteries. It was a nice experience to see the little ones doing their art with all the motivation for their audience.

Continuing with the artistic part, we invited everyone to join in drawing in the sand. Teacher María and I and our students from the Casa de la Cultura decided to make a big fish in the form of a relief in the sand. The children were very motivated and participated actively. One thing I learned is that when the sand gets wet it can be handled better and the reliefs are concise and more durable.

We finished the big fish leaving our fingerprints on its scales as a signature of its creators. We had to accelerate the realization of the image because our friend the sun was already high and its rays were hitting us hard. It was an innovative experience for everyone and will open the doors for future art projects on the sand ....

At the end we had the beauty and the breeze of the sea. The organizing team of this first edition of the Fiesta del Mar gathered to share experiences and dreams. The directive of the project: For our environment, the instructors of the Casa de la Cultura, guests from Citma and Havana, we gave each other a big spiritual embrace because the most important thing for all of us is this necessary work for the health of the sea and the welfare of our people.
