Visitando el Zoológico de La Habana : ¿Vale la pena? 🦓🦁🙉 (Es- En)

Saludos amigos, espero que todos estén muy bien. Yo aún me encuentro disfrutando de estas vacaciones de verano en la ciudad de La Habana y había un lugar que hacía tiempo no visitaba, por lo que decidí darle una oportunidad. Por el título del post sabrán que estoy hablando del Zoológico de La Habana, más conocido por los cubanos como "el zoológico de 26".

Me hacía mucha ilusión volver a ir después de muchos años, y emocionarme al poder ver los animales que normalmente solo podemos ver en televisión, como el león, el oso y hasta el camello, así que escogimos la mañana del domingo para esta aventura, en la que mi papá, mi esposo y yo nos sentimos como niños otra vez viendo esos animales como si fuera la primera vez.

Greetings friends, I hope you are all very well. I am still enjoying this summer vacation in the city of Havana and there was a place I had not visited for a long time, so I decided to give it a try. From the title of the post you will know that I am talking about the Havana Zoo, better known by Cubans as "the zoo of 26".

I was very excited to go there again after many years, and excited to see the animals that normally we can only see on TV, like the lion, the bear and even the camel, so we chose Sunday morning for this adventure, in which my dad, my husband and I felt like children again seeing those animals as if it was the first time.

Al llegar al zoológico tuvimos que hacer una cola para comprar las entradas, pues como estamos en vacaciones son más personas las que visitan este lugar. Mientras esperábamos nuestro turno decidimos tomar algunas fotos, pues en la entrada hay un bello monumento de unos venados y un cartel con imágenes de algunos de los animales que vas a encontrar en el interior del zoológico.

When we arrived at the zoo we had to wait in line to buy the tickets, since we are on vacation, there are more people visiting this place. While we were waiting for our turn we decided to take some pictures, because at the entrance there is a beautiful monument of some deer and a poster with images of some of the animals that you will find inside the zoo.

Una vez dentro empezamos a recorrer el lugar que es bastante grande, y lo primero que apareció en nuestro camino fueron las jaulas de varias especies de monos, desde chimpancés hasta babuinos, cada uno tenía su propio espacio y hacían cosas muy graciosas, incluso hasta le tiraban besos a las personas y estiraban su mano para pedir comida.

Once inside we started to walk around the place, which is quite large, and the first thing that appeared in our way were the cages of several species of monkeys, from chimpanzees to baboons, each one had its own space and did very funny things, they even threw kisses to people and stretched out their hand to ask for food.

Luego nos encontramos con los animales más peligrosos, vimos la fosa de los leones, el oso, el guepardo y el jaguar. Todos estaban bastante tranquilos, algunos hasta durmiendo, me hubiera gustado oír el poderoso rugido del león. Sentí un poco de pena por el oso, pues tenía un estanque con agua muy sucia y miraba hacia arriba como esperando que le arrojaran algo de comida.

Then we met the most dangerous animals, we saw the lion pit, the bear, the cheetah and the jaguar. They were all quite calm, some even sleeping, I would have liked to hear the mighty roar of the lion. I felt a little sorry for the bear, as he had a pool of very dirty water and was looking up as if waiting for some food to be thrown in.

Seguimos caminando y nos encontramos con las zebras, venados, el camello y otras especies de animales hervíboros. Estos animales se acercan a las personas para que les den de comer, mi papá y yo les dimos algunas hierbas que encontramos alrededor, otras personas también le dan galletas o cualquier alimento que tengan a la mano.

We continued walking and met the zebras, deer, camel and other species of boiling animals. These animals approach people to feed them, my dad and I gave them some herbs we found around, other people also give them cookies or whatever food they have on hand.

Llegando a la última parte del recorrido están las hienas, cuando las ví pensé inmediatamente en la película "El Rey León", pero no hicieron su sonido característico, ese que se supone que suena como una risa. Ya regresando vimos a las aves, nos atrajo su canto, aunque no se podían ver del todo bien porque estaban en unas jaulas cubiertas con una gran malla negra.

Arriving at the last part of the route are the hyenas, when I saw them I immediately thought of the movie "The Lion King", but they did not make their characteristic sound, the one that is supposed to sound like a laugh. On the way back we saw the birds, we were attracted by their singing, although we could not see them very well because they were in cages covered with a large black mesh.

Una de las cosas que más disfruté, aparte de ver a los animales, fue el Parque Infantil. Tanto mi papá como mi esposo y yo nos volvimos niños otra vez y nos sentimos libres para divertirnos en las sillitas y el cachumbambé, así como hacer un poco de actividad física en el pasamano aéreo y otras estructuras de metal. Yo pienso que ese espíritu infantil nunca se debe perder y es bueno a veces retomarlo para alejarnos del estrés de la rutina diaria.

One of the things I enjoyed the most, aside from seeing the animals, was the Children's Park. All of us, my dad, my husband and I became children again and felt free to have fun in the little chairs and the cachumbambé, as well as to do some physical activity on the aerial handrail and other metal structures. I think that childlike spirit should never be lost and it is good sometimes to take it back to get away from the stress of the daily routine.

Para concluir esta aventura nos tomamos un descanso para merendar para luego regresar a casa. Mientras nos íbamos vimos que ofrecían el servicio de canopy y a todos nos llamó la atención ver cómo una pequeña niña lo hacía, me quedé impresionado cómo supo escalar hasta lo último del árbol y después lanzarse sin ningún indicio de miedo alguno.

To conclude this adventure we took a break for a snack and then returned home. As we were leaving we saw that they were offering a canopy service and we were all amazed to see how a little girl was doing it, I was impressed by how she was able to climb to the top of the tree and then jump off without any sign of fear.

La verdad fue un día maravilloso, me encantó ver a los animales y jugar en el parque, pero a la misma vez me dió una enorme tristeza ver en las condiciones que están, pues no tienen comida suficiente y tampoco depósitos de agua limpios. Sentí mucha pena al verlos acercarse en un intento de conseguir algo de comida, en ese momento me hubiera gustado tener algo más que ofrecerles. Es muy bonito poder verlos pero a la vez es triste la vida que llevan en cautiverio.

En general se pasa un día agradable en el zoológico, pero si pudiera cambiar algo sería que las personas encargadas se ocupen mejor de los animales, cuidando que tengan suficiente comida y agua limpia como mínimo.

It really was a wonderful day, I loved seeing the animals and playing in the park, but at the same time it gave me a huge sadness to see the conditions they are in, because they do not have enough food and clean water tanks. I felt very sorry to see them approaching in an attempt to get some food, at that moment I would have liked to have something else to offer them. It is very nice to be able to see them but at the same time it is sad the life they lead in captivity.

Overall you can have a nice day at the zoo, but if I could change anything it would be that the people in charge take better care of the animals, making sure they have enough food and clean water at the very least.
