3 precious possessions

YAY for another interesting topic in this community. Thanks Pauline!

It is hard to narrow it to three precious possessions. I picked three things that are special to me and will tell you briefly about them below.

Pot from Uncle Jack

This beautiful pot is from my Uncle Jack and is the first thing I thought of when I read the prompt.

Like my father, my uncle was so artistic! He taught high school ceramics and made thousands of ceramic pieces, in his long life. Him and my aunt Wanda were like grand parents to me and I was very close to them. When I would visit he would often offer me a pot to take home.

This pot is special because it was made just for me! My siblings each got a special pot when they got married. One year Uncle Jack decided that whether or not I was married I should have a pot too. It reminds me of his love and all the great memories of visiting my aunt and uncle at their home in Utah.

Journals

I am a documenter! I have written in my journal every day for about 40 years. I have recently started counseling to work through some pressing issues. For years my journals have been my counselor and confidant, a way to work through my thoughts and feelings. Most of the time, it is great to look back and see what happened during a certain time in my life or verify dates or facts.

One of my favorite times with my sister (also a journal writer) is when we would pick a date and then share what we wrote one that day with each other.

Note: The elephant was made by my dad and the sheep is to remind me of my mom. She loved black faced sheep and collected them.

Plant

This pathos was given to me by my sweet friend Verla when my dad died in 2016. First and foremost it reminds me of my dad and the love of a friend.

Second, it is still alive. After keeping it alive for a year or so I gained some confidence and decided I could and would have plants in my life. Those that know me, know I love plants!

Third, I prorogate this plant and give it to friends when someone significant in their life dies. I tell them it come from a plant given to me when my dad died. I hope it gives them the same comfort and confidence it has brought me for so many years.

Thank you pathos for being so hardy. :)

Those are three precious possessions, ones that have stories and bring me peace and comfort.

Sort:

That is a truly special present from Uncle Jack, its like a big egg sitting on an egg stand, it's lovely.

On your journals, looking at each of them, I feel like as if you go through phases in life with the different types of journal you use over the years, starting from more formal ones to a cheerful casual fun one last year. Were you in Taiwan in 1999 - 2001? 🙃

And on the pathos, what a great way to keep the memories of our loved ones alive. I hope your recipients will find it comforting as you have

Aww I was looking forward to your comment and it was so nice. Yes, Taiwan 1999-2001. I thought something very similar about the phases. I did go to spiral, easier to write in and so you can see the spines. The fronts have fun phases too.

A personal ceramic pot! That was a really special gift from you uncle!

The journals - you have been writing them for over 40 years, every day! Wow 😍

And the plant... you have picked and showed us three very nice and precious possessions! 🤗

Thanks @mipiano It is a fun challenge and I remember you put passport and that was definitely on my list too!

awesome display

These types of possessions will always hold a special place in one's heart and bring back memories in the future
