Die Achateuele ist ein Nachtfalter aus der Familie der Eulenfalter (Noctuidae). Der Wanderfalter überwintert als auch als Raupe in Mitteleuropa. Der Falter stellt keine besonderen Ansprüche an sein Habitat und ist in zahlreichen Gebieten zu finden. Durch seine markante Flügelzeichnung ist eine Verwechslung mit anderen Arten ausgeschlossen.
The Angle shades is a moth from the family of Noctuidae. The migratory moth hibernates as well as a caterpillar in Central Europe. The moth has no special habitat requirements and can be found in numerous areas. Due to its distinctive wing markings, confusion with other species is impossible.

Die Raupe frisst an den unterschiedlichsten Pflanzen, sodass ihr Nahrungsangebot breit gefächert ist. Die von mir gezeigte Raupe ist aus der Zucht und frisst an Salweide (Salix caprea).
The caterpillar feeds on a wide variety of plants, so its food supply is broad. The caterpillar shown by me is from breeding and eats on sal willow (Salix caprea).

Die erwachsene Raupe verpuppt sich am Boden in der Erdschicht. Der Falter kann sowohl als Puppe wie auch als Raupe in Mitteleuropa überwintern.
The adult caterpillar pupates on the ground in the soil layer. The moth can overwinter both as a pupa and as a caterpillar in Central Europe.

Ein Großteil der Falter fliegt im Frühling aus dem Süden nach Mitteleuropa. Hier entwickelt sich dann die zweite Generation, die entweder wieder in den Süden zurückfliegt oder überwintert. Der Falter ist noch weit verbreitet und in seinem Bestand derzeit nicht gefährdet.
A large part of the moths flies from the south to Central Europe in spring. Here the second generation develops, which either flies back to the south or hibernates. The moth is still widespread and its population is currently not endangered.

Hier war es so, dass ich die Raupe mit dem Futter für andere Falter nach Hause gebracht hatte. Eine Zucht hat sich so natürlich angeboten. Die Bestimmung der Raupe war allerdings schwieriger als gedacht. Die Puppe ruht jetzt und im Frühling wird hoffentlich ein Falter schlüpfen 😁
