Catching some competitive Mario Kart action

I honestly forgot just how busy this time of year can be when it comes to sports. You think hey, college basketball is over now so my schedule is going to be wide open. Then softball comes along and ties up all your time. It's pretty crazy. The e-sports team at the school district I work for made it to the playoffs this past week. Unfortunately, they had a tough go and were knocked out before advancing to the finals.

This is only their second season, so the fact that they made it this far is pretty good. Last year they actually made it to the finals though and I think that was a high bar for them to try to reach again. Personally, I think they could have won if they had just communicated a little better. They had some miscues that cost them some key points.

It was fun to watch them compete though. I had been pushing for an e-sports team for quite some time, so finally seeing it come to fruition even if I wasn't directly involved was cool.

I did source the displays and chairs that you see above, but they added the lighting on their own! The room is pretty sweet, it just needs a Monster or Mt. Dew vending machine and they would be all set!

The Tiffin Dragons softball team has four more games left in the regular season. They need to win pretty much all of them to earn a spot in the playoffs. Over the weekend they faced a Trevecca Nazarene team that swept them in the double header.

They were able to bounce back though and complete their own sweep against Kentucky Wesleyan in a double header on Saturday. My niece didn't get to play too much during any of those games, but I think she should be ready to go for this Friday assuming the coach puts her in.

The good news is, two of the players who were injured are back in the lineup already. I thought they were going to be out for the season, so this is a good thing.

Meanwhile my nieces younger sister continues to play at the high school level. It appears she might be coming out of her hitting slump, she had some good hits on Friday night even though they lost 6 to 7. She also had a great night last night with a 14 to 3 win over their opponent.

This Thursday they face that team I talked about in another post where the parents were pretty trashy and classless. We will see if they come with a better attitude this time or if they choose to act like children again. Either way, it's probably going to be a tough game for the Rocks.
