Championship Week

By the time you are reading my post a week from now, there should be a new or returning champion in NCAA college softball. At the very least by a week from tomorrow we will know the outcome. We have already seen four games yesterday and over the course of the next few days the field of eight will be consolidated to two.

Those two teams will start a best of three series on Wednesday next week to see how will be crowned the champion.

If you read my post yesterday, you saw all of my predictions for the bracket.

I bet you will be shocked to find out that I wasn't 100% correct with those picks.

UCLA beat Alabama with some late game heroics to move into the winners bracket. The final score was UCLA 4, Alabama 1. Tomorrow, UCLA will face off against Oklahoma who run ruled Duke 9 to 1 in the sixth inning.

As much as I want to hate Duke, the fact that they are even here is pretty impressive. This is their first trip to the college world series and if I heard the commentator correctly yesterday, they have only been a team for something like 2 years. That's quite the effort!

That means Duke and Alabama will play today to see which one of them gets send home first.

Later last night, Texas beat Stanford 4 to 0 to advance to the winners bracket, and Florida beat Oklahoma State 1 - 0. That means Oklahoma State and Stanford will face off tonight at 9:30 PM and Texas and Florida will meet up tomorrow at 7 PM.

I think Alabama is going to beat Duke today and Stanford is going to beat Oklahoma State. We will see though.

From there, I think Oklahoma hands UCLA their first loss and Texas beats Florida. We will see though.

Meanwhile, my niece has some games going on this weekend as well with her travel team. She has an early start on Saturday morning with a game at 8:00 AM. Her team has struggled in the past with early starts like this, so hopefully they are awake and ready to go.

They face a Inferno team that I am not sure they have ever played before.

Right after that they have a 9:30 game against OFC Heat, and then a 12:30 game against Miami Valley Xpress. This is just pool play, so doing well isn't a necessity, but it should make things easier for you on Sunday during bracket play if you do.

Hopefully, they actually get to do some bracket play this weekend. Last weekend it was scrapped due to the weather. Which is sad, because the girls were on a run and they could have potentially won out the tournament.

Fingers crossed that carries over into this weekend!
