NCAA Top 25 Basketball Recap: Nice Try Spartans

Don't worry, this post isn't going to be about my nephews basketball game again. Instead this is going to be about college basketball. With so many different things going on right now, it's hard to keep them all straight! I feel like my week is all messed up and I apologize for that. My regular schedule is totally disjointed now that I have to bring you a recap of the basketball games.

As you hopefully remember, I mostly cover upsets in the top 25 in these posts, but I also have a few of my personal favorites that I like to talk about as well. It's been close to a week since I last wrote a post about college basketball, so I have a lot to catch up on!

I should probably get started!

Last Thursday there was only one game in the top 25 and it was not an upset. It was a pretty solid beat down of Jacksonville by (21) Florida 81 to 60.

Friday on the other hand was a bit more exciting. We had ten games in the top 25, but only one of them was an upset. New Mexico took down (22) UCLA 72 to 64. I should also point out that (9) North Carolina made it a close game with (1) Kansas, but ultimately fell short 92 to 89. Most of the other games weren't even close as this is cupcake season.

Saturday we had six games in the top 25 and again, only one of them was an upset. (11) Auburn beat (4) Houston 74 to 69 to get a good start to the Tigers season. (8)Baylor had a close game against (16) Arkansas, but came away with the 72 to 67 victory.

Sunday there were three games in the top 25, none of them were upsets, but Arizona State did make things interesting with (6) Gonzaga before falling 88 to 80.

Monday night gave us eight games in the top 25. Guess what, not a single one of them was an upset. It's pretty cool to see that one of my local schools Central Michigan University got to travel to Marquette and get beat for what probably ended up being a decent sum of money. Although there were no upsets, the scores of these games were a little closer than some of the other ones.

Tuesday night gave us four games in the top 25, and most importantly, my Michigan State Spartans were back in action against (1) Kansas. I'm a bit disgruntled to see that MSU isn't ranked in the top 25 yet this year, but I have a feeling that will come with time. They have a legendary coach, so it shouldn't take long.

In fact, despite the 77 to 69 loss on Tuesday night, I think they looked pretty good against the number 1 team in the nation. That Dickenson piece of crap had a monster game for Kansas, so that didn't help them at all. I like what I saw though and with some more development, I think they have some good pieces that might take them far this season.

There was an upset on Tuesday night even though it wasn't the Spartans. (19)Kentucky took down (6) Duke 77 to 72 in the second game of the Champions Classic. The first game was the MSU/Kansas game.

Wednesday night there were seven games in the top 25 and once again, none of them were upsets. Besides a few one off games, the competition isn't that great this time year. It's mostly power teams taking on less skilled smaller teams to work out their roster issues and rotations. That's why they call them cupcake games. It's basically supposed to be a cake walk for the bigger teams in these games.

Tonight we have zero games in the top 25, but this weekend is going to bring us a lot of action. Be sure to check back next week for all the updates!

I've not been following sparty this season which is odd for me. I'm just spread too thin these days.

You don't have to convince me! This past week has been a total whirlwind. I made an unexpected trip down to Ohio yesterday and my whole world is kind of off kilter. The good news is they only have about three games in, so you still have time to catch up!
