Arjen Robben has announced his retirement from professional football after a 21-year career at the age of 37. Robben was born on the 23 of January 1984 in Bedum, Netherlands. He started his professional football career at Groningen in 2000 at the age of 16. He later moved to PSV Eindhoven in 2002 before signing for Chelsea FC in 2004
He confirmed his retirement to his fans with a short text:
"Dear football friends, I have decided to stop my active football career. A very difficult choice. I want to thank everyone for all the heartwarming support! Regards, Arjen."

Arjen Robben reversed his decision to retire in 2009 when he concluded his final season with Bayern Munich by looking up to a new adventure with Groningen where he began his journey years back.

I'm pretty sure he would enjoy his time at Groningen because it will feel like home. He played seven games and had two assists during his time with them. The Eredivisie team offered him a contract extension of one year but he decided to call it a quit after his 2020-21 season was dominated with injury.
