I haven't shot a dragonfly in a long time because I rarely find a unique one. So, when I was trying to move elsewhere after taking photos of the butterflies, I noticed this blue species perched on shady leaves and bouncing off branches. The color is trying to get me to hunt it down and try to take some shots. This type of dragonfly is one of the most common dragonflies found in gardens, fields, playgrounds, etc., and can sometimes be found near rice fields or even in forests. This typical dragonfly usually flies horizontally very close to the ground which makes it easier for me to shoot from a distance.
Blue is colored all over his body and has blue eyes with middorsal and subdorsal black stripes; the last three remaining segments are black. In elderly individuals, all markings are obscured by fine blue pruinescence. The blue dragonfly (Diplacodes trivialis) is widespread throughout tropical and subtropical Asia and belongs to the family Libellulidae, in the genus Diplacodes.
Diplacodes trivialis is a species of dragonfly in the family Libellulidae known as the perching dragonfly or ground skimmer. It is found in China, Japan, India, and south to New Guinea and Australia.
