If streets could talk...

in Urban Exploration6 months ago

When I walk along the streets of my city I always take photos with my phone even though I have walked those streets thousands of times.

There was a time when it was out of nostalgia, because I lived in London for almost ten years, and every time I visited my city I really appreciated everything even more than I would before.

"El Carmen" is an area situated in the city center that is shaped with narrow and randomly distributed streets with old buildings and beautiful squares.

Not that I didn't like London. I love London. But Valencia, my city, has something special to me, as it is my hometown.

I love getting lost in these streets, having a glass of wine in a hidden bar, exploring a new art gallery, or just wandering aimlessly, while I get memories from the past. Spending time with my friends, going out to clubs, getting drunk, and having lunch or dinner in cute restaurants.

I remember when I met a friend of mine on one of these streets. We haven't talked much for a long time. I moved to London, now to Valencia and she lives in Madrid. I recently found out she is in a very popular podcast, which I really like. The way we met was because she thought, as many people have done haha, that I looked like Collin Farrell so she started yelling, "he is Collin Farrell!" and can't remember what happened after but we became friends haha.

Some buildings are really old, and actually no one is living in them, waiting to be renovated. I personally like the old looking and even though when they get renovated are really nice, they lose their identity. Obviously, don't think it is good to have buildings it is not safe or healthy to live in, but if you compare the picture above with the one below, they are both beautiful but the corner building for example has so much history and character that is telling you a story. I can almost read the story of the lives that lived in the building.

On the blank walls, there are always really impressive paintings. I really like the street art and they change now and then.

The one above seems to be portraying a scene of an influencer getting photographed at a bus station. I like this type of street art, it normally wants to communicate a message and it is focused on social situations.

On the other hand, the ones like the one below are so monumental! They are on big blank walls, normally back or side of buildings and they are always huge amazing paintings that you can't stop looking at. Vivid colors, unique scenes, and such good painting skills.

I hope you liked my photos and my city! As I said you will probably see more of the streets because, with my phone in my hand, I always take new photos of the streets!

Have a happy Thursday!

I am fascinated by photographs. They seem like liminal spaces 😍 the perspective of the buildings is fantastic and not to mention that wonderful mural you found ✨💚
