I came across a thought-provoking video: The root of poverty lies in procrastination, and the root of procrastination is cognitive overload and internal conflict. For example: You spend ages comparing prices just to buy a cabbage, or hang around a live stream for hours waiting for a tiny discount. Wasting all your decision-making energy on trivial things like this—that’s cognitive overload.
Others want to save money, but they rush to buy new shoes right after getting paid, only to worry about rent later. It’s not that they have no plans; it’s that their instinct for "instant gratification" clashes with their reason to "save for the long run." This internal conflict leaves them stuck, unable to act.
Procrastination is like a black hole—it shrinks your chances to change little by little: You fail to learn the skills you need, so you miss out on good job opportunities; you don’t save the money you should, so you’re left panicking when problems arise.
You don’t need to "change completely" overnight. Break down your goals and start small: Spend 10 minutes each day making a to-do list. Turn "learn a skill" into "watch one online lesson." Turn "start a social media account" into "make two short videos a week." Ease your mental burden, and don’t stay up late—sleep is the battery for your willpower. Instead of saying "I’ll do it tomorrow," start with just 5 minutes right now.
Let reason win over instinct, and slowly you’ll pull your life from "being dragged down" to "being lifted up."
