Guys, the wait is over! I’m finally attending this incredible event you’ve organized for us! My husband and I were so excited when we found out HiveFest is in Croatia this year. No more excuses—let’s go! We live in Austria, so being able to drive there is perfect!
First, I have to say, I read your "Road to HiveFest" articles, and I couldn’t help but laugh. I thought a 6-hour car ride was long, but after seeing how far some of you traveled, I’ll just stay quiet and say—you’re all amazing!
We started our trip from Graz on Saturday because, let’s be real, I was eager to get here as soon as possible. We made a quick stop in Slovenia to drop off our dog with my husband’s parents and stayed overnight to avoid driving at night. Sunday morning, we hit the road again, knowing there wouldn’t be much traffic now that summer is over. And it was true—our journey was peaceful. We arrived around 5 p.m., settled in, but didn’t go out since we were tired from the drive. Instead, we cooked dinner and played a fun game of poker. Finally, I beat him! Unfortunately, we weren’t playing for money, so I just got a kiss as my prize! 😂
I woke up bright and early at 7 a.m. because I can’t sleep in when I’m near the sea—I just had to take a swim. My husband gave me a funny look since it was still cloudy and windy, but I was determined! We’re only 10 minutes from the beach, so by 8 a.m., I was already watching the waves. Even though it looked chilly outside, it wasn’t at all!
It’s such a different climate here. We spent every childhood vacation in Croatia, but it’s been 8 years since I’ve come back. I’d forgotten just how beautiful this place is! And the craziest thing—just an hour ago, I posted a picture on Instagram saying we were in Split. Five minutes later, a friend we haven’t seen in three years called and said he was nearby! What are the odds? We live just an hour apart, and yet, we run into each other here in Croatia. 😂
Anyway, off to grab some coffee, cook a little, and explore Split. I can’t wait to meet you all tomorrow!

We went out with our friends for a beer, and yeah, we ended up staying in the bar for a good hour because it was pouring rain. 😂 Luckily, we found a cheap bar, so we could drink without worrying about the prices... unlike the first bar where we paid 42 euros for 6 beers! 🤦♀️ I felt like I was back in Austria. 😂 See you tomorrow!

Yeah 🤦♀️ and then we went to the center of Split and paid 17€ for 6 beers… Don’t drink on the promenade, in the city center is much cheaper!

Yeah, believe me, I feel dumb for thinking 6 hours was far... When I saw how long some of you traveled, I can only stay quiet. 😂 I was flying from Slovenia to Amsterdam for 3 hours and thought it was too long 🤦♀️

Jeah but is still so hot 🤦♀️ I'm definitely not used to this kind of climate... and maybe we had a few too many beers today (totally unplanned), but when you run into friends you haven’t seen in 3 years, there’s no other option 😂 I think I'll take a nap now, and maybe go for a quick swim later this evening 😂 see u tomorrow!

I just want to say thank you for your advice. I think I’ve found the right way to get more involved and do something I love that others will also appreciate. Sometimes, you just need a push in life. I already told my husband, and I think many people know I’m not here for all the technological stuff—I just want to write. I didn’t succeed while studying, so having this opportunity to write here and achieve something is just... wow! Why I have a feeling my husband wrote to you? Because I asked him, and he looked away! 😂
The most important thing to focus on is Split. It’s a beautiful place. I wish I could attend. You guys should have one extra drink for me :)
