ARGH!
So I got the new battery into the mower, turned the key and it cranked like no tomorrow. But it wouldn't start. After trying several times, working the choke, and trying some other tricks like starter fluid, nada.
My uneducated small engine mechanic brain determined it had to be a lack of fuel getting somewhere. It acted like it wanted to start with the starter fluid, so there was that. I figured I would start with something simple and easy to change out.
The first thing I wanted to check was the fuel filter. I had my son pick up one after he got off work. When he got home, we changed it out, which was rather easy, and still nothing.
So tomorrow I am going to check the carburetor and spray it with some carb cleaner. It could be some pieces are sticking in it. The thing was not used for almost a year. So it is a possibility.
If that doesn't work, then it will be completely removing the hood of the rider so I can access the front of the engine to remove the spark plug and check it. Really a pain in the ass design and how you have to remove the entire hood of the mower to access the plug. That is why I waited to do it last.
Anyway, it is another sleepless night, it is about 0315 in the morning actually. Thinking it is a good thing Hive is Global and 24/7. But WTF, why is it that when I can't sleep and up at this hour, every other freaking post is about food? I mean shit, my wife could walk in on me, see my fat butt smiling and think I am looking at porn. "Sorry no honey, just checking out the hot food posts on Hive."
Well, that is all I have for you for now. I need to do some commenting and voting. Have the tree service coming early this morning to start cutting down the tree as well.

Well, the tree service guys showed up at about 6:45 this morning. They were not messing around. They moved the half whiskey barrel we planted flowers in and had next to the tree. It was too heavy for us to move. Regretfully it started to fall apart. We will have to find another, most likely a fake plastic one next time around.
Little young skinny fella threw on some climbing gaffs and his gear and began to shimmy up the tree immediately after they moved the barrel. I am not sure how such a small fellow climbred with all that gear on his waist but he did. Once he made it toward the top of the tree, he tied himself of with a climbing rope.
Once tied off he began swinging around like a spider monkey on crack cutting away limbs like there was no tomorrow. His partner on the ground would pick them up as they dropped and throw them in the wood chipper which would shred them into their truck.
These guys finished getting the entire tree down and everything cleaned up in under three hours. It was amazing to watch! Just two guys in three hours brought down the entire tree and cleaned up everything. They were super efficient. I was impressed, which isn't easy to do.
After they were done, I was toast. I had been up all night as you might have read earlier. The Dark Roast Reaper coffee had worn off and I was crashing hard. The riding mower would have to wait.
The rest of the day was a blur, a waste of time really. The one thing that did get coordinated was the painter coming to paint the living room and liven it up on Saturday. I am so looking forward to the new bright color. Right now the living room is dark and dreary, Such a downer.
Anyway, it is another night and early morning of the repeat cycle of not sleeping. Hitting it here on Hive and loving it this morning. Some good posts and engagement. I plan to make sure to keep myself up and work on the mower this morning with my son and get that done for sure.
While I am working on the mower, I will try to get some pics while working on it as well as some pics of the guys as they grind the tree stumps down today.
Well, that's all I have for this post. Until next time.
Thanks for reading,
Joe

Sounds like you had a good time supervising!
Yeah could be the carb, fingers crossed that sorts the mower.

With all the sleeplessness you may start painting yourself... 😬 and on the mower i would have checked the plug first. But that's all me... hehehehe
Happy Day Joe
Yeah, I wanted to check the plug first. However, you have to take the hood off the mower to get to the plug, and that is just more of a pain in the ass. Poor design IMO. I have never seen a mower where the plug is so hard to get to.
Ha, just to p1ss you off... 😏 All these machines made me do it the ancient way... foe or even better, not at all. Hahaha... so i wont be in trouble with my love for cutting the flowers.
Haha. I am about to kill all the grass and make my yard a dirt lot and let the neighborhood kids play ball on it or something.
there is also the concrete possibility... hahahaha roller skater would love that for sure.
