Half Way Woo Hoo - Day 50 - The 100 Day Project

Well, to day I made it to the big 5 0. it's Day 50 of The 100 Day Project which means I'm halfway though. 💪

It's hard to believe I've created/posted something every day despite having days out for family birthdays and 2 trips away as well as all the normal day to day stuff.

I'm a bit in shock, to be honest. I've never stuck with a challenge, of any kind, for this long. It's been a bit of a roller coaster in turns of enjoyment with some days feeling like it's all a bit pointless.

Yesterday I was considering ending the project today but I think I'll soldier on. Not sure why. The main motivation that keeps returning to me is the decluttering aspect. I have so much stuff and I'd like a lot less.

And on that note I'm going to start on a birthday card for my grandson today. Last year, this is what I came up with.

I think it's going to be hard to beat that.

I was trying to use up some children's watercolour paints that had gone rock hard and had the not so brilliant idea, as it turns out, to smash them up, sprinkle them on some paper, spray them with water and let them dissolve there. However, they didn't dissolve so I was left with a pile of smashed up watercolours.

Ultimately, I came up with the idea you see in the image where I stuck the bits down with matt gel medium in the shape of my grandson's initial.

I did the same for my other grandson later in the year and that got rid of the watercolours. Hoorah!

Now I'm going to go on a hunt for what I can use up today which would make a good birthday card . . .

I grabbed some yellow card, gold foil from a chocolate bar, some letters and a number 7 card from 2 different scavenged board games, a piece of happy birthday confetti and some jigsaw pieces to use as a background.

Here's the result when all was assembled.

So there we are. another day completed, more stuff used up, another item finished and I'm now officially half way through The 100 Day Project 2024. 💪

Yay ! Half Way !

I how you used the dried water colors, but I like this years even better.

Good way to use the chocolate bar foil.

Congrats on making it to the halfway point! I'm totally with you on feeling a bit surprised at sticking to it this long... I'm a couple of days behind you, and you're quite right, sometimes it feels like an accomplishment, and sometimes rather pointless.

But it also feels like certain new pathways are forming in my brain... and I'd like to think this will stand us in good stead, in the long run!

I don't have the experience of new pathways forming. Maybe because I'm not focussed on one thing. I'm not trying to create a habit either so I'm left wondering why I'm doing this. The only reason I keep coming back to is using up stuff but then I could always just give it all away or bin it so that's not much of a reason either. It's all a bit puzzling. 😕
