Wicked Winds - Terrible Halloween - Tree Damage - by Sunscape

Nasty weather for the trick or treaters and for my poor Bradford Pear Tree. Just before the kids started going out in the wicked wind and rain, one whole side of my tree came down.

We had been having gusts of 40-50 MPH. winds all afternoon. We didn't even know it had happened until my neighbor called us a 6:00 p.m. to let us know.

The main branch broke right from the center trunk of the tree, yet it is still attached. We've put a call in to a friend that does tree removal, and he will come soon to take it down and trim what else is needed.

It may not look like much of a branch, but it is the whole southeast side of the tree. I wonder what it is going to look like once they get it cleaned up.

I feel bad for the tree. I just hope that it is not too bad and they can save the rest as it is my favorite. I love the beautiful blossoms in early spring.

It's funny, all these years I've never noticed the little pears on the tree until seeing them today. One of the nice things about the Bradford Pear is the brilliant burgundy-wine color of the leaves every fall.

This morning the rain has finally stopped, and the sun is just now peaking out of the clouds. I just may have to harvest the rest of my carrots today before the rain starts again.

Have a great weekend everyone. November has arrived, hopefully this month will be a good one to be #thankful for.

oh no!!! so sorry about the tree. thats no good at all. It changes the landscape doesn't it, AND they take so long to grow. Hopefully you can save a little bit of the tree? we had hails storms through here on halloween. nasty weather all round. thankfully no damage for us. i lost like 1 chili tree? count myself lucky there.

Thank you, the tree service had to remove two main branches, but the rest is standing. We will wait to see how it recovers come spring. Next week, extreme cold weather arrives.

oh dear, at least they didn't say there was no hope of recovery and take it all out. Hopefully it can recover and the cold weather does not hinder its healing too much

I hope it will be ok after they cut off the fallen branch. It's a beautiful tree with its leaves🥰.

Me too! It is my favorite tree! Thanks for the visit.

I'm so sorry, weather forces :(

So sorry for your tree, I hope the other parts of the tree are safe.

Thank you, @asiaymalay for the support.

That was some wicked wind. I couldn't believe it had blown most of the leaves out of the yard. That's a first, I think... No idea if there's branched down out back. The white oak lost a few small ones.

Nice that the winds cleaned the lawn. I hope you didn't lose any trees. That wind was awful, even Mika and my cat were unnerved.
