Feathered Friends out my window

Baltimore Orioles

I have their favorite grape jelly in this feeder by the window and there are so many fledglings around right now that I am going through an entire 30oz jar of jelly a day. They will soon begin to disperse, but right now the activity at the feeder is continuous.

The lighter-colored orange cup at the top of the feeder is an ant trap. It gets filled with water and the ants can't cross it to get down to the jelly. These work great to keep the ants out of the hummingbird feeders, too. I have to fill them frequently with water, because the chickadees have decided that they are their own personal drinking fountains.

Catbirds are frequent visitors, and Cardinals, house finches, and Rose-breasted grosbeaks stop in for an occasional sweet treat, too!

Thanks! I was just on my way over to the Discord!

Very cool photos, Melinda. I have a lot of birds always chirping on the trees next to my apartment but I rarely see them. They're pretty well camouflaged. 🤣

It is much more difficult to see them this time of year with all of the leaves on the trees. I have to lure them out with my feeders!

Hello dear friend @ melinda010100 good afternoon
What beauty, I love that you had so many visits and varied birds, you are blessed to have them in the feeder in your patio
Congratulations, I would love to have a visit like these in the garden
I appreciate that you show us these beauty
Have a wonderful night

Thanks so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed these photos! They have brightened up my quarantine days!

how are you dear friend @ melinda010100 good morning
Yes, I liked them a lot, they are a bird lover, at the bottom of our house there is a big tree, many birds stop there, now you have given me to make a trough and a feeder to see if these birds come closer to our house If that happens, we can capture many images of them.
have a wonderful day

I'll bet if you give them the kind of foods they like they will come, @jlufer. I am entertained all year long by watching the birds that come to my feeders.

If without a doubt I am going to do them, I love birds, I appreciate that you let me know the images dear friend @ melinda010100 thank you very much
have a wonderful day

I will be looking forward to seeing photos of your feeder and wishing you success with it! You will have very happy birds!

What lovely birds! So colorful! 😍 I don't see colorful birds in our neighborhood. I only see brown. 😢 And they are so small. It's so hard to capture them just using a phone.

Have a good day @melinda010100. ❤

Oh lol, feathered friends!!! I forgot about this tag!!! Lucky I'd planned a bird post this week and I'll be sure to post in Feathered Friends!!! That oriole is lovely - what bright colours. I was just saying to Jamie that in England, the birds seem to hide more than the Aussie birds - easier to photograph them here!

Oh! I would love to see your Aussie bird photos! These through the window photos didn't come out as crisp as I would have liked, but orioles are so colorful that they show up just fine! 😀

I have picked your post for my daily hive voting initiative, Keep it up and Hive On!!

Thanks so much for your generosity!

I love the oriole feeder, Melinda! I thought about getting a similar one a few years back, but I haven't put any feeders out in ages (not since a couple bears took up residence in the general vicinity). When I still had my hummingbird feeder up, I used to use the lid from a Tang container filled with water as an ant trap, and it worked like a charm! Thanks for another awesome catbird shot too!

Oh, and one of these days (hopefully soon), I have a Feathered Friends post that I'm really excited about - I managed a "first" in our yard that happens to be a rare bird in our area... 😀

I don't have to worry about bears, but I do have coyotes and deer and raccoons raiding the seed feeder. No one has yet been able to get to this jelly feeder, although it is funny to watch the squirrels and raccoons trying to reach it.
I can't wait to see your newest Feathered Friend! ❤️

The lovely, beautiful birds are back for a visit, and for more grape jelly.

It's quite entertaining to watch the youngsters come to that jelly feeder and try to figure out how to land there. There is an awful lot of fluttering involved before they finally get the hang of it.

Oh yes, I am sure it is fun to watch. :-)

What a beautiful and unusual bird for me!
wait... WAT? Grape jelly? Birds eat jelly? How unusual!

The orioles are one of my favorite summertime birds. They really brighten up the place!😁
There are many fruit eaters who enjoy a sweet snack! They will also feast on oranges, grapes, bananas and berries. Even Woodpeckers are tempted by fruit. 🍇

What a wonderful place to have a super sweet breakfast ! I can easily believe there are a lot of these colorful feathered lovelies arond your restaurant my dear Melinda ! 😊

I used to make my own jelly for them, but that has become more than I can manage these days. So they have to be satisfied with the cheap stuff from the grocery store, but I haven't noticed that they minded the change at all.

They start stopping by when it is barely light outside in the morning and they keep me entertained all day long.

Oooh...how cool is that ?!? 😊 I'm happy you are in such good and joyful company !

I do love being surrounded by nature!

I love its brilliant yellow feathers. I appreciate your generosity that you brought jelly for them. Beautiful pictures !

Thanks so much! They are incredibly beautiful birds!

Beautiful birds and so colorful Melinda. Girlfriend I did it again, I posted a post in your community instead of from my own page. I tried to delete it but it would not let me. Is there a way to take it off as my tarot reading does not quite match feathered friends. So sorry. I wish when a post was done that the next post would revert back to our own automatically. Geeze, I forget to look sometimes.

No worries! You are not the only one that it happens to. I don't think I can remove it from the community. The only way I can see to do that is by Banning you!!! and I certainly do not want to do that. Besides, I love seeing your tarot post, and I've been so busy here lately that I don't have enough time to get around and see everyone's posts. Maybe there is a reason that I am meant to see this one!❤️

You are so sweet Melinda. I really need to pay closer attention when I get started posting. I hope the reading offers you good advice this month. We are influenced by some heavy-duty energies right now, and will be for a while. xoxo.

it's a colorful bird I have to say

I have to look for that kind of feeder. My wife recently bought a bird cage which we hanged just outside the bedroom window and left open with bird seeds scattered inside. We haven't had a single visitor since. I don't know if having 12 cats roaming outside the house has anything to do with that. Or maybe the cage may just be too big that the birds don't know there's food inside. That feeder may just do the trick! Thanks for sharing. By the way, love the photos. Must have been a challenge taking them :)

Baltimore Orioles are such a beautiful bird. We as of yet seen them around our house but I did seem them at the lake close to our place so perhaps one day.
Thanks for sharing!

I would probably never see them either if I wasn't luring them in with jelly! They do love fruit!
