🦉 The willow tit (Poecile montanus)

  • Poecile poikilis (Greek) an unidentified small bird mentioned in ancient texts
  • montanus (lat .) : mōns, montis mountain, mountain range, montanus mountain

I love the hoarse calls of these cute tits. They can be heard all year round in any forest, and sometimes in city parks. And with the arrival of spring, you can already hear their melancholic whistling songs, which are quite pleasant to the ear.

They also have a certain signal, the so-called pampering, a quick, cheerful gurgling warble that indicates a state of “marital awakening.”
