🦉 The Icterine warbler (Hippolais icterina)

  • Hippolais - (Greek) a small bird mentioned by Aristotle and others, later identified as the wheatear Oenanthe, because hypo under, laes stone; the name Hippolais is thought to be a misnomer for the warbler (Jobling, 2010)
  • icterina - ikteros (Greek) jaundice-yellow color; yellow bird

We call this bird the "green mockingbird" (lolwut?).
This is a veeeeeeeeery difficult bird in every sense.
I should probably start with how difficult it is to photograph. Those familiar with the golden oriole will understand. It also carefully hides among the leaves, but unlike the golden oriole, it's in the middle, not in the upper tiers. It's also perfectly audible, but not visible. Its call is very strange, somewhat crackling, with sounds reminiscent of a dog toy.

I even managed to photograph it, but the difficulties don't end there! You need to process the photo properly, and the problem is that the bird seems slightly greenish, but you can't tell which is the bird's natural color and which is just the so-called sheen of the foliage (in photography, this is called reflex).
And judging by the photo, I went a little overboard and erased its natural color.
