The Swallows Have Hatched!

Recently, in our bird shed, I discovered a new nest of swallows with five beautiful eggs. These birds come to us to nesting place every spring and live with us until autumn but with their grown chicks.

And recently my wife told me that she found a shell from swallow eggs on the floor. Not having time to be frightened, she raised her head and saw the protruding beaks of sleeping chicks and hurried to tell me the good news.

When I came to look for the first time, adult swallows had just returned to feed the chicks, so my first visit was cut short, in order not to excite my parents, I hastily retreated.

A day later, I returned and also found sleeping chicks but without adult swallows and was able to take a few pictures.

Unfortunately, the yellowmouths reacted to my camera's autofocus light and woke up and began to open their beaks in anticipation of treats.

Oh, and their throats are huge, as for two-day-old swallows! Not even comparable in size to my two-week-old chickens, which we hatched for the first time in an incubator!

Flight feathers on the wings are one of the first to develop, except for a funny fluff that has grown in place of the eyebrows) As if a dandelion was put on instead of a hat. 😂
I think that this fluff is a kind of protection for the eyes, a kind of analogue of sensitive human cilia or cat whiskers 😺.

Soon the mother-swallow returned and let me know that she was very worried about my presence in such close proximity to the nest, so I apologize for the blurred sharpness of my pictures, but yet I had to leave the birds alone without achieving a perfect picture.
