I sat down in the community place with my Harris's hawk for the first time (2024.05.23)

in Feathered Friends4 months ago

Today I sat down with my Harris's hawk in the community place for the first time.

At first I took a walk around the community place.

There were around 10-15 people in the community place. I spent the afternoon and the early evening in the community place with my Harris's hawk.

In addition to the people, my Harris's hawk saw two medium size dogs too.

She was visibly stressed around the people and around the dogs. She screamed (especially at the dogs) and jumped off of my arm a few times.

She will get used both to the people and to the dogs too.

Only time and patience is needed.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.

Harris Hawk want to be wherever you are all the time, she feels saved with you, taking her to walk around the community place will make her learn so much things about the environment.

Yes. She is mostly calm on my arm.

I spend many hours (most of the day) every day with her on my arm.

She will get used to the environment, to the people, and to the animals (mostly dogs and cats) too.

I love the fact that you love birds but do you have any reason for that?

I love them since 2018, when I discovered the Harris's hawk. I bought my first Harris's hawk in 2019.

Before that I did not even know that this bird exists, and I have not had any long term real love and enjoyment in my life.

I was even diagnosed with dysthymia (the chronic form of depression) as a child. So this (the love of birds) is my only real love and enjoyment in life.
