Rosa, The Parrot That Arrived by Surprise
My mother is a woman who has always demonstrated to have an enormous heart, but when it comes to animals that heart seems to widen to 1000% since I can remember in my house we have always had a pet and in multiple occasions the doors of the home have been opened to receive temporarily diverse creatures that for some reason or another lack a dignified and appropriate place to develop freely and calmly.

Rosa, la Lora que Llegó por Sorpresa
Mi madre es una mujer que desde siempre ha demostrado tener un corazón enorme, pero cuando se trata de animales ese corazón parece ensancharse al 1000% desde que tengo memoria en mi casa siempre hemos tenido alguna mascota y en múltiples ocasiones las puertas del hogar se han abierto para recibir de forma temporal a diversas criaturas que por alguna u otra razón carecen de un lugar digno y apropiado para desarrollarse libre y tranquilamente.

My mother's house is located near the highest mountain in my city, which is a few hundred meters above sea level, but in general has a thick and at the same time quite intricate forest cover, which undoubtedly is home to dozens of animals that live there quietly, at the margin of humanity and at the same time at the foot of the Andes, therefore, it is common to interact often with the colorful plumage of birds and their cheerful singing that incessantly break the silence of every morning.
La casa de mi mamá se ubica cerca de la montaña más alta de mi ciudad, la cual cuenta con algunos cientos de metros sobre el nivel del mar, pero en general cuenta con una cobertura boscosa espesa y al mismo tiempo bastante intrincada, el cual sin duda alguna es el hogar de decenas de animales que viven allí de forma tranquila, al margen de la humanidad y al mismo tiempo al pie de los Andes, por lo tanto, es común interactuar a menudo con el colorido plumaje de las aves y con su alegre canto que de forma incesante rompen el silencio de cada mañana.
Right in front of my mother's house there is a big tree, which for as long as I can remember has served as a natural gas for thousands of birds, they want to make their nests there, see their chicks grow and then migrate to the mountain to face the reality of mother nature. It is in this way that a couple of parrots decided to settle there until they see their little chicks grow, but in a sudden turn of events after the little ones had already reached a considerable size, a storm swept this part of the national geography, propelling one of the chicks in free fall to the ground.
Justo frente a la casa de mi mamá hay un gran árbol, el cual desde que tengo memoria ha servido como gas natural para miles de aves, quieres realizar allí sus nidos, ven crecer a sus polluelos y luego emigran a la montaña a enfrentarse con la realidad propia de la madre naturaleza. Es de esta forma como una pareja de loros decidió instalarse allí hasta ver crecer a sus pequeñas crías, pero en un giro repentino de los acontecimientos luego de que los pequeños ya tenían un tamaño considerable una tormenta arrasó esta parte de la geografía nacional, impulsando a uno de los polluelos en caída libre hasta el piso.
There, unable to fly, unable to defend itself and out in the open from any predator, its days were numbered, but fortunately the lively look of my mother managed to alert her of the situation that was to come and no matter what she threw herself into the street to rescue that little friend, brought him to the house and little by little began to serve as a substitute mother, since once rescued, his natural parents never looked at him again.
Allí sin saber volar, sin poder defenderse y a la intemperie de cualquier depredador sus días estaban contados, pero afortunadamente la mirada vivas de mi madre logró alertarla de la situación que estaba por venir y sin importar nada se lanzó a la calle el rescate de aquel pequeño amiguito, lo trajo a la casa y poco a poco comenzó a servir de madre sustituta, ya que una vez rescatado sus padres naturales no volvieron a mirarle.
The first days of this chick which my mom named Rosa were quite difficult, she wasn't familiar with being so close to humans and everything caused her fear, since there are cats here we decided to put her in a small cage so she could sleep safely, but once inside there was no way to get her out, since she was completely resistant to any type of physical contact and much less to being free.
Los primeros días de ese polluelo al cual mi mamá llamó Rosa fueron bastante difíciles, que no estaba familiarizado con estar tan de cerca con los humanos y todo le causaba miedo, en vista de que aquí hay gatos se optó por acondicionarle una pequeña jaula para que allí pudiera dormir de manera segura, pero una vez dentro no había forma de hacerlo salir, ya que se resistía por completo a tener cualquier tipo de contacto físico y mucho menos a estar libre.
Little by little Rosa came out of that state of shock and became more and more familiar with her new surroundings, my mother with a lot of patience and dedication began to feed her with the help of an injector, since being a baby she still doesn't know how to eat alone, defend herself and even has trouble walking with a firm step, that's how little by little she became a new member of the family, which until now has only received pure affection, a lot of love and the security that she deserves.
Poco a poco Rosa fue saliendo de ese estado de shock y cada vez más se fue familiarizando con todo su nuevo entorno, mi madre con mucha paciencia y dedicación comenzó a alimentarla con ayuda de una inyectadora, ya que al ser un bebé aún no sabe comer sola, defenderse e incluso le cuesta caminar con paso firme, es así como poco a poco se convirtió en un nuevo miembro de la familia, el cual hasta este momento solamente ha recibido puros cariños, mucho amor y la seguridad que tanto se merece.
With the passing of the days she has lost her fear and now she loves to be opened the cage to go out and explore every corner of the house, which she does with supervision, since her safety is paramount for all of us. The original idea is that this house for her is only a temporary home, since she is being taught the right things so that she learns to eat on her own, to defend herself and to move with the typical agility of any parrot of her species, so that when she is in full condition she can open her wings and venture to know the huge world that lies ahead.
Con el pasar de los días ha perdido el miedo y ahora le encanta que le abran la jaula para ella salir y explorar cada rincón de la casa, lo cual hace con supervisión, ya que su seguridad es primordial para todos nosotros. La idea original es que esta casa para ella sea solamente un hogar temporal, puesto que se le está enseñando lo adecuado para que ella aprenda a comer por sí sola, a defenderse y a desplazarse con la agilidad típica de cualquier loro de su especie, para que de esta forma cuando ya esté en plenas condiciones pueda abrir sus alas y se aventure a conocer el enorme mundo que tiene por delante.
It is incredible the strength that love has, because it is thanks to this feeling that Rosa has been able to move forward in spite of the difficulties, it is thanks to the love that has been given to her that she has a different vision of her human family, in just a few days she already recognizes all of us and loves to chase us to play and enjoy good times, she already knows how to be noticed to ask for food or water and the best of all is that she expresses pure and sincere love. I hope everything goes as planned and that when the time comes she will be free and have the same opportunities as her siblings who remained in the nest and I hope that in the world there are many people like my mother, who love animals unconditionally and are not attached to quartering the freedom of a little friend who only understands that life was made to be free and to know the world.
Es increíble la fuerza que tiene el amor, ya que es gracias a este sentimiento que Rosa ha podido salir adelante a pesar de las dificultades, es gracias al cariño que se le ha dado que ella tiene una visión diferente de su familia humana, en tan solo pocos días ya nos reconoce a todos y le encanta perseguirnos para jugar y disfrutar de buenos momentos, ya sabe cómo hacerse notar para pedir comida o agua y lo mejor de todo es que expresa un amor puro y sincero. Espero que todo salga según lo planeado y que cuando llegue el momento ella sea libre y tenga las mismas oportunidades que sus hermanos que permanecieron en el nido y espero que en el mundo existen muchas personas como mi madre, las cuales aman a los animales sin condiciones y no se apegan a cuartear la libertad de un amiguito que solo entiende que la vida se hizo para ser libre y conocer el mundo.
