Good evening to all my Hive friends. During our excursion last Saturday, one of the most unforgettable places we visited was Ravana Falls. This waterfall is one of the most famous in Sri Lanka, not only because of its beauty but also due to the history and legends associated with it.
Ravana Falls received its name from King Ravana, a powerful figure in Sri Lankan folklore connected to the great Indian epic Ramayana. According to legend, Ravana ruled Sri Lanka thousands of years ago. It is said that he hid Princess Sita, the wife of Prince Rama, in a cave behind this waterfall. Even today, people refer to it as Ravana Cave, and many visitors come here to see the place linked to the legendary tale. This gives the waterfall a special cultural and historical significance, making it not only a natural wonder but also a site of storytelling and imagination.
When we visited Ravana Falls, the water level was quite low. Usually, during the rainy season, the waterfall is powerful and spectacular, but this time it was gentle and calm. Even though the flow was not very strong, the surrounding beauty filled us with joy. The rocky cliffs, the cool breeze, and the lush greenery around the falls created a very peaceful environment.
We chose this place to have our breakfast, and it became one of the most beautiful parts of the trip. Sitting close to the waterfall, sharing food together, and enjoying the fresh mountain air made the meal even more delightful. The children who came with us were full of energy and joy. They laughed, played, explored the surroundings, and also listened attentively to the legends we shared about King Ravana. It turned out to be both an entertaining and educational experience for them.
After breakfast, we spent some time taking photographs and enjoying the natural beauty. Although the waterfall was smaller than usual, it was still a wonderful place to relax and have fun.
Our visit to Ravana Falls was truly special. It gave us the opportunity to learn a bit of history, enjoy the beauty of nature, and create joyful memories together. This trip reminded us that every place has its own story, waiting to be discovered.
