Cebu Westown Lagoon: Our Cool Escape from the Scorching Sun

Good day, Hivers! Last month, we experienced the scorching heat of the sun, so intense that even when doing nothing, you still felt the heat as if cold water couldn't relieve it.

Because of the extreme heat, it felt so refreshing to take a dip in the sea or even just in a pool. Fortunately, when my partner's sibling returned from abroad, he decided to spend his vacation with his relatives here in the Philippines at a well-known resort in Mandaue, Cebu.

When we received his invitation, we didn't hesitate to accept and immediately prepared to go the next day because his vacation in Cebu was only for three days and he would soon return abroad to continue his work as a teacher there.

After learning all the necessary information we needed to know, such as the meeting time and place, we quickly prepared the things we needed to bring for the outing tomorrow. Before going to sleep, we couldn’t help but feel excited and talk about what would happen the next day.

In the morning, as soon as we woke up, we immediately got ready, took a bath, and dressed up. We didn't cook breakfast because we had agreed to be at the venue by 8 a.m., so we just had hot coffee and made sure the kids were fed.

Once we made sure everything was ready, we left the house and looked for transportation to the location we had discussed. Upon arriving at the place, the first person we saw was my father-in-law, followed by my brother-in-law, who was the one treating us to the resort.

We arrived at the agreed time, but as is common with Filipinos, the agreed time was not strictly followed, and most of my partner’s family ended up arriving two hours after us.

There were more than 30 of us at the resort, and only three kids were free from the entrance fee, so my brother-in-law ended up paying a considerable amount. And since his birthday was approaching, he decided to also celebrate it with us on that day, so all the expenses were covered by him. However, he said it was worth it as long as everyone had a good time, and he was perfectly fine with that.

We were enjoying ourselves so much at the resort, with the endless conversations among the adults and the kids and teenagers having a great time swimming, but no one really paid attention to the time. Thankfully, the transportation to pick us up arrived, and everyone decided it was time to head out at 9 p.m.

As we left, the happiness on everyone's faces was undeniable, and we were thankful to my brother-in-law for remembering us upon his return to the Philippines. We hope to have many more family outings in the future.

Cebu Westown Lagoon is located here in Mandaue, close to Parkmall, and within sight of a well-known hospital. This resort is famous for its stunning views, perfect for taking beautiful pictures to post on social media, and the best part is they offer free Wi-Fi access, ensuring you can post your astounding photos. For their entrance fee, kids below 4 feet in height are charged 200 pesos per head, while children above 4 feet and adults are charged 300 pesos per head. However, kids who need more attention, such as infants, are free of charge. Take note: the tickets you receive from the front desk can be converted to any kind of drink you desire. Families will undoubtedly enjoy the resort’s delightful and inviting pools. There are two kids' pools and one adult pool, each equipped with its own water slides for added fun, especially the tall and exciting slide at the adult pool. There's also a jacuzzi near the adult pool where you can warm up if you get chilly from swimming. By 9 p.m., you’ll surely find yourself dancing and singing along because there will be a band performing to entertain you. The resort is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Personally, I enjoyed it, my child enjoyed it, and so did my partner’s entire family, so I highly recommend this resort.
