This is the spirit of the age that works at variance with the Spirit of the Living God. If you seek to live with the spirit of this age, you will miss God. This awful spirit is in serious antagonism with the truth of God’s Word; meanwhile, scriptures affirm that
“God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth” John 4:24.
The spiritual life is hooked unto the truth of God’s Word; because the Holy Spirit of God which is the “live wire”’ of your spirituality cannot work without God’s Word.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” Genesis 1:1-2.
The Spirit of God simply hovered on the face of the deep and could do nothing, because there was nothing to work with. It was only after God spoke and said – “Let there be light”, that the Spirit of God sprung into action.
Those tied to the spirit of the age have alienated themselves from the precepts of God’s Word and as such, they have cut off themselves, with nothing of God to guide and guardthem . In an era when there is an increasing drift from the precepts and ordinances of God’s Word; men have carved out different styles of living, anchored on their feelings, emotions and reasoning.

As far as they are concerned; if it feels good, do it. The truth however remains that we cannot please God by our feelings or reasoning. We can only contact God by faith. True faith is hooked unto the precepts and allowances of God’s Word.
There is nothing as easy as seeking to live unto oneself; but the consequences are damning. The Bible sums up the luring of the spirit of the age – “The lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life” 1 John 2:16. These are all bound to pass away; only those hooked unto the Word of God will last, because God’s Word lasts forever. (Forever and ever your WORD is settled in heaven)
We have not been made to live unto ourselves; we have are created to live unto God. The spirit of the age is a deviation from God’s purpose for creating man and anyone who allows himself or herself to be trapped by this awful spirit of disobedience shall pay for it.
The GOD of the mountain, is still the GOD of the valley. God of love he is and GOD of judgement he is also. “It is a fearful thing thing to fall into hands of the living God”.
