Happy weekend everyone in the #homesolutions community. I feel happy sharing my home activity with everyone today. This week has been a busy one for me, but on weekends, I try my best to take care of home and if I have a chance to gather up photos, then I can spice up my post here on Hive.
For today, I engaged in a very laborious home cleanup activity. Clearing the weed and little shrubs growing by our frontage this afternoon is one of the greatest and most laborious home work I've done since last week I guess. The worst part of this exercise and cleanup is that at first, it wasn't sunny but in the middle of tt weeding activity, sun emerged from nowhere and the heat on my back intensified each second.
Without talking much, let's go down to discussing how the weeding was done.
The photos below show the tools I used for this weeding activity. They are machete, broom and a parker. For this weeding, I needed a rake but since I have none, I improvised the broom for a rake. This is one of the things I've learned from taking care of home together with mom, improvisation of certain items, lol.
After I had gathered all the items, I made my way down to the frontage where the weed had invaded. The rainy season is gradually approaching and the weed sprouting out on formerly clear areas is a sign of the rainy season. The picture below shows the area before I began weeding the space.
With my machete, I gradually cleared the weed making sure I cleared them from the roots. Weed is a very resilient plant, if one doesn't clear them from the roots underground, they will grow back in less than a week. So to keep an area free from weed, during weeding time one has to take the weed off from their roots. I cleared the weed from one end to another.
After getting the weed off the ground by uprooting them, next up was to gather them together. Just like I said earlier, I don't have a rake for this exercise, so it was time for my broom to become useful. I used my broom to gather the uprooted weed together in three places to manage spreading.
After gathering the uprooted weed together, I used the parker to gather and move them out to the disposal point. I am lucky to have a big size parker which helped me to gather and dispose of the three heaps of weed in just three rounds of parking.
I dispose of the gathered trash in a groove by the roadside. This groove is caused by running water after flooding following a heavy rain. So I just tried using the weed to cover up those groves to minimize further cutting by flood.
Just like humans, after every activity of the day, when we return from work, school, market or anywhere, we often shower and refresh ourselves before going to rest. I did same for the tools I used for the weeding activity this afternoon. I washed and kept them outside to dry before taking them in again.
During the clearing/weeding activity, I was careful to observe some useful crops which were hidden in the weed like water leaf, pepper and scent leaf plant.

Hoy me he dedicado a una tarea de limpieza doméstica muy laboriosa. Quitar la maleza y los pequeños arbustos que crecen en la fachada de nuestra casa esta tarde es uno de los trabajos más grandes y laboriosos que he hecho desde la semana pasada, supongo. La peor parte de este ejercicio y limpieza es que al principio no hacía sol, pero en medio de la tarea de quitar la maleza, el sol apareció de la nada y el calor en mi espalda se intensificaba a cada segundo.
Sin hablar mucho, vamos a hablar de cómo se hizo el desmalezado. Las fotos de abajo muestran las herramientas que utilicé para esta actividad de desmalezado. Son machete, escoba y un rastrillo. Para este desmalezado, necesitaba un rastrillo pero como no tengo, improvisé la escoba para el rastrillo. Esta es una de las cosas que he aprendido al cuidar la casa junto con mamá, improvisar ciertos elementos, jejeje.
Con mi machete, fui quitando la maleza poco a poco, asegurándome de quitarla de raíz. La maleza es una planta muy resistente; si no la quitamos de raíz, volverá a crecer en menos de una semana. Por eso, para mantener una zona libre de maleza, durante el tiempo de desmalezado hay que quitarla de raíz. Quité la maleza de un extremo al otro. Después de sacar la maleza del suelo arrancándola, el siguiente paso fue juntarla. Como dije antes, no tengo un rastrillo para este ejercicio, así que era hora de que mi escoba fuera útil. Usé mi escoba para juntar la maleza arrancada en tres lugares para evitar que se extendiera.

Desecho la basura que recojo en un surco junto a la carretera. Este surco se forma cuando el agua corre después de una inundación provocada por una lluvia intensa. Así que intenté utilizar la maleza para cubrir esos surcos y así minimizar los cortes posteriores causados por la inundación.
Al igual que los humanos, después de cada actividad del día, cuando regresamos del trabajo, la escuela, el mercado o cualquier otro lugar, a menudo nos duchamos y nos refrescamos antes de ir a descansar. Hice lo mismo con las herramientas que usé para la actividad de desmalezado esta tarde. Las lavé y las dejé afuera para que se secaran antes de guardarlas nuevamente.
Durante la actividad de limpieza y desmalezado, tuve cuidado de observar algunos cultivos útiles que estaban ocultos entre la maleza, como la hoja de agua, la planta de pimienta y la hoja aromática.
