Thinkers Corner; A little bit of restraint... A worthy sacrifice.

History is a very big teacher and one of the things I've learned by being well-informed about history is that every country has things to be ashamed of. However, when we start talking of things to be proud of, there are a lot of countries that do not have anything to be proud of.

Trust me, I'm not going to start casting stones at other countries. I already know how things are in my own part of the world and I've always said that if the opportunity shows itself, one of the things I will do is to relocate from here and move to another part of the world.

One of the driving forces for that is my desire to hit really huge success. I crave opportunities and I also want to be able to experience living in a place where there is better security and standard of living. Getting all these in my current financial status doesn't exactly seem like something easily achievable if I'm in my Country.

However, what if I have all the resources I have? What if money is the least of my worries? Would I be okay with a permanent relocation to a different part of the world?

This looks like a very easy no-brainer. Most people would choose to bid their farewell to this country and move to a different part of the world where they can enjoy what life has to offer. That seems like the obvious thing to do.

In my case, even though I've always wanted to experience international traveling and I've always wanted to live amid people from a different part of the world, if money is no longer a problem for me, one of the things I will likely do is to try and make a change in my country. I will try to use the unlimited resources I have to positively make this country a place where people would be proud to call Home again.

You know, I'm always of the opinion that with great power comes great responsibility. I'm not particularly patriotic towards Nigeria. I don't even love the country. However, I have a very special liking for Nigerians and I know our existential challenges as people from this part of the world keep us very occupied with a lot of problems, it's always hard for us to look beyond our challenges to see what others are going through.

We are capable of being caring, showing kindness, and extending helping hands to others. Even though our country does not have a lot of inspiring things, we still do our best to survive and thrive. After seeing all that resilience that's consistently displayed by the people, I wouldn't want to use my "unlimited resources" just for my own good. I will surely try to make life bearable for those around me and hopefully for the Citizens.

Does it mean that I won't expose myself to the pleasure of traveling the world? No! I will still get into that adventure. However, with each moment I step out of the country, I will always step out with the intention of getting back home after each journey.

So, in line with the writing topic in this week's edition of The Thinker's Corner Challenge, permanently relocating from my Country to another part of the world is something that looks really appealing which I wouldn't want to do when I have all the financial resources I need.

@kenechukwu97 you are thinking along the right directions my friends. When you travel globally it will make your horizon that much more wider. It will not isolate you from your country if you love the people there. It will just make you part of a bigger family.

I truly believe that home is where the heart is, and a nation is what it's people make it. Now unluckily our politicians subvert the peoples' characters for their own devious needs. and they work hard in trying to make the nation something else. But at the end of the day it is the people which make up the nation. 5 Nigerians meeting up in UK is representing a small part of Nigeria itself.

I hate nationalists who talk about our country is best. My question to them is what do we gain by saying that again and again. Isn't it much better to try and find what is wrong in our country and correct it so that it helps more people. Unluckily in my country currently they just jump on us calling us anti-national if we ever criticize something. But they forget that the nation is not lines on a map, it is the beating heart of millions of people, and it exists because of the people. and anywhere we go we take that heart with us.

Your comment is so delightful. I like the way you share your thoughts and I can tell that this topic is something you hold dear in your heart.

A lot of people don't like to face the truth about the bad thing happening in their country. I've had a Nigerian who told me that I shouldn't write about the corrupt practices in my Country. According to him, he believes we should always paint the country in good light.

I see the point he's trying to make, but that's exactly what makes Countries to become worse. Politicians are always lying about things happening in the Country. The Media are also convering up the truth.

I don't particularly enjoy saying that my Country is poorly run. However, these things have to be said and they have to be said right.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this.

People will never understand the rights they have in their country until they become a foreigners in another country. There was a particular tiktok video I watched some months ago, a popular politician made a statement "Nigeria is a burial ground for rich Nigerians" it felt really awful to hear this till it was explained

The statement was further explained, it means that whenever Nigerians lay their hands on money and resources they travel abroad. Living their entire lives in a foreign country but when they die, they are brought back to Nigeria. It makes you wonder, why were they not buried abroad?

Truthfully with the right about of resources to establish my self in my country, why would I want to travel permanently to another country when I could use the resources I have to transform my country. I'm not bring patriotic, it is just common sense.

That's true, bro. It's not about patriotism or some glorified buzzword. This is just common sense. If I have enough money to last generations, I would surely choose to remain in my Country as a full fledged Citizen than to spend everything in a foreign country only for my Corpse to be ceremonially buried in my own Country.

If everything goes as planned, I will surely like to build a good reputation in my Country and be an agent of positivity to Nigerians.

This is exactly my point.

Oshey!! True son of the land, I bow for you baba, hehe
Well it's the best decision for noble citizens of a country but how many persons can really do that?

This is a nice construction bro, a true and authentic expression of creativity

#dreemerforlife

Haha... Bro. I know something like that is never an easy decision to make, especially if you are in a Country like ours where the everything is damaging beyond repair. Haha.

God help us in this Country

See Patriot, ooo. Sir Po eum😂😂😂. You are doing well. Truly, if we are to look at the country, there's nothing appealing about it, and it'd be better to just leave.

However, when you have the resources, staying and building something other Nigerians can benefit from is not a bad thing.

Lol... Po Eun has done his part of Korea. Haha. We already have a thought Po Euns in Nigeria who are dragging us though mud. We will soon kick down out of this country. Haha

🤣🤣🤣 I hope you are not planning on murder😅😅. But if you are... Well, well.... I think you should
