Hello Thoughtful Hivers, it's your @rufajane back with another blog. For today's blog, I would love to share to you the quote I came across this morning and the realization I've had after meditating.
As mentioned, today, a quote by Maya Angelou quietly stopped me in my tracks: “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”
At first glance, it feels simple but the deeper I thought about it, the more layers I saw. How often do we admire the results such as success, happiness, or the calm confidence of someone around us without acknowledging the effort, pain, and transformation that made it possible? We celebrate the butterfly without ever remembering the cocoon.
Life feels much the same. Each of us goes through seasons of struggle, doubt, and uncertainty. These are the moments nobody sees, the nights spent wrestling with decisions, the times of patience and perseverance, and the quiet prayers whispered when hope feels small. And yet, it is precisely in these unseen moments that growth happens.
This quote reminded me to appreciate not only my victories but also my journey which is the process that molds character, resilience, and wisdom. The discomfort, the failures, and the waiting periods aren’t detours but are essential chapters in the story of transformation.
It also makes me pause when I look at others. How often do we compare ourselves to someone’s outward success or calm demeanor, forgetting the inner work they have endured? There is grace and humility in recognizing that everyone has a cocoon, even if it’s hidden from view.
Today, I try to see the cocoon in myself and in others not just the wings. I remind myself that patience, faith, and quiet perseverance are not wasted. They are the scaffolding of beauty and strength.
After all, every butterfly had to struggle before it could fly. And maybe, in embracing our own cocoon moments, we too can emerge stronger, wiser, and more beautiful than we ever imagined.

We always emerge stronger after tough battles. Great post.
