Ser docente es una de esas carreras que mucho piensan dos veces para ejercer.
Ser artista, pues también, la gente dice eso no te da dinero y además, es un hobbie.
Ahora imagínense una combinación de ambas, el mundo dice: ¡QUE HORROR!
Being a teacher is one of those careers that many people think twice about pursuing.
Being an artist, well also, people say that it doesn't make you money and besides, it's a hobby.
Now imagine a combination of both, the world says: WHAT A HORROR!
Por si no lo había dicho, soy diseñador gráfico, trabajadora social y bailarina, cosas que a primera vista parecen muy diferentes, pero, no lo son. He encontrado en la educación para las artes un espacio en el que todas estas pueden fusionarse.
-Un lugar donde puedo comunicar desde la creatividad.
-Donde puedo ayudar a otros a desarrollar sus potencialidades.
-Donde puedo bailar y aportar a que otros también lo hagan.
In case I haven't said it, I am a graphic designer, a social worker and a dancer, things that at first glance seem very different, but, they are not. I have found in arts education a space where all of these can merge.
-A place where I can communicate from creativity.
-Where I can help others to develop their potential.
-Where I can dance and help others to do the same.
Ser profe de danza no es un trabajo sencillo, debes ser comprensivo, cercano, amable y cuidadoso con tus estudiantes, planificarte y conseguir la mejor forma de comunicarte. Para muchos dar clase es un total fastidio, pero, si te das cuenta de que te gusta y te hace feliz, ahí es que descubres que es tu vocación.
Being a dance teacher is not an easy job, you must be understanding, close, kind and careful with your students, plan and get the best way to communicate. For many people teaching is a total bore, but if you realize that you like it and it makes you happy, that's when you discover that it is your vocation.
Les comparto una de las anécdotas que me hizo descubrir mi vocación:
En una oportunidad luego de salir de una presentación con un grupo de principiantes, el cual yo había sido su profe y coreógrafa. La adrenalina y alegría nos inundaba a todos. Una de las chicas, la cual era su primera experiencia bailando, estaba tan emocionada que se me acercó y me dijo: “¡Quiero hacer esto toda mi vida!”
Eso me puso más feliz de lo que había salido del escenario y ahí me di cuenta que bailar me encantaba, pero ser parte del proceso de otro y poder verlos bailar me daba una felicidad inexplicable.
I share with you one of the anecdotes that made me discover my vocation:
On one occasion after leaving a presentation with a group of beginners, which I had been their teacher and choreographer. The adrenaline and joy flooded us all. One of the girls, which was her first experience dancing, was so excited that she came up to me and said, "I want to do this all my life!"
That made me happier than I had left the stage and that's when I realized that I loved dancing, but being part of someone else's process and being able to watch them dance gave me an inexplicable happiness.
Uno de mis maestros nos decía en nuestros encuentros “ser educador es un apostolado”, pues si, tenemos la misión de compartir lo que sabemos, y lo hacemos de manera desinteresada. Esto si es un apostolado que se disfruta mucho, por ello me dedico a ello ¿ser profe de danza? Si, serlo hoy mañana y siempre.
One of my teachers told us in our meetings "being an educator is an apostolate", well yes, we have the mission to share what we know, and we do it in a disinterested way. This is an apostolate that is very enjoyable, that is why I dedicate myself to it, to be a dance teacher? Yes, today, tomorrow and always.
