Courageous Families
Every war is an unfortunate and undesirable situation that no one wants to suffer, especially people who are in charge of children, and if these children are small, or are in the womb to come. Public opinion is led to believe that women and children have special treatment in war conflicts, but in any case, the drama must be immense, I can only imagine it since I have not lived through such a misfortune, and I do not wish it on any human being.
One would like to believe that in a war families are separated and mothers and children are taken to safe and comfortable places, while dad spends some time on the front lines protected and out of harm's way, and that at some point the family will return home in one piece and their lives will continue as before the war. It seems to me that none of the above has ever been the case in any such conflict.
No matter which side is the father or mother who participates in a war, forced or voluntarily; the good or the bad, invaders or invaded, on either side, perhaps many of the soldiers prefer to be at home next to their loved ones, but most of the time for them there is no choice, if they refuse they could go to jail, and that is also a terrifying drama. Being separated because of political or other interests is unfair to thousands of beautiful families who have nothing to do with those issues.
I have thought about it a lot, and today I want to share here my thoughts on that specific topic. I can't do anything to stop any war, I can hardly worry in a sincere way, in some moments I imagine if that situation were to happen to me, and just thinking about it makes me sad. To be separated from my daughters and my wife without knowing if I would ever see them again, that must be a torment.
So dear friends, in honor of so many families caught up in wars past, present, and future, I wrote a story of family togetherness, love and hope, and I want to publish it here in this community, it is not just a short story, it is a way of expressing meaningful support. Please understand and forgive me in advance since I did not publish in another literary community.
Irina y Boris (ESP)

Irina and Boris (ENG)
So dear friends, in honor of so many families caught up in wars past, present, and future, I wrote a story of family togetherness, love and hope, and I want to publish it here in this community, it is not just a short story, it is a way of expressing meaningful support. Please understand and forgive me in advance since I did not publish in another literary community.
The dawn has arrived as usual, Irina wakes up startled, like every day of the last 240 days today it is also difficult to get a good night's sleep. She thinks she hears a knock at the door of the small house walled in by the snow, she looks out the window, but there is no one outside, her beloved Boris is not coming, these are sounds that her mind and heart have created to keep hope alive.
One side of the bed is cold and lonely, Boris, her young husband has gone to defend his homeland from foreign invasion, he is a strong, brave and loving man. He had no choice, he knows that without a homeland he will not have a safe home, and his family will have an uncertain future. He is a volunteer, and is on the front line of combat, but the husband and wife are confident and hopeful that soon it will all be over.
Irina has been a woman of peace, and has stayed in the village even though it is forbidden, almost everyone has gone to safe areas, only some resigned old people have remained, and others are sick with little future. The frozen village is to the east, very close to the border, and the national troops resist the advance of the invading army.
The news from the battle front does not come, only rumors are heard and nothing is official, however Iryna trusts Boris' promise, she knows that her beloved will not fail. In their lives has been sealed a promise that must happen no matter what.
On the battlefield, Boris resists and advances, he is a natural leader and the other soldiers stay there because of the motivation that Boris inspires, who has now become a hundred times braver and stronger, he is also confident in Irina, and he must fulfill the promise.
The young man feels fear, the battles are difficult, there is high risk, every hour is more complicated, but he draws strength from his hope and the promise keeps him intact.
The moment to fulfill the promise is near, Iryna counts the hours and minutes, and Boris advances to retake the territory, if they achieve the objective, his combat group can go home, otherwise they must remain fighting until it is necessary, only one option exists for the brave soldier, and his strength increases in every meter he advances, the promise is alive and keeps him triumphant, the other soldiers follow him exhausted, but they do not leave him alone.
It has been exactly 240 days since the spouses have been unjustly separated, the time of the promise begins a countdown, Iryna can hardly walk and must remain at rest for the sake of her health and for the sake of the promise.
On the battle scene, Boris feels the approach of the expected moment, the promise will soon be settled and he will have to fulfill his part, he has not seen Iryna since that last night of love and lust, 24 hours before his departure to the war. He is ready and knows that time is running out.
In the evening of that day, Iryna has sent for the old woman of the village, everything is prepared in detail, the old woman rushes into Iryna's house, and what was to happen begins, it is the final minutes, the cold air makes a brief truce cut by the strong pushes of the young woman, and suddenly a beautiful and deep cry is heard throughout the house, finally the promise has been fulfilled.
There in the heat of the conflict, Boris has clearly felt, his heart tells him, it is his turn, everything is ready, the group of soldiers advances moved by their young leader, they give everything they have, their weapons are superior, and with them they are eliminating each tank as if they were made of paper, this is their definitive advance to retake the territory already invaded, that is the superior order.
The generals are satisfied, they order the group to return to their homes and rest for a week, Boris does not waste a single second and sets off, upon arriving home his eyes shine with love to see his family safe and sound, he approaches and falls to his knees before his beautiful son. Boris has also kept his part of the promise; he has returned alive, intact and proud to be a father for the first time. Nothing stopped him from delivering.
