HOW MY PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE CHANGED OVER TIME

in Hive Naija20 hours ago

Hello everyone, I’m @akwash360 and I’m so delighted to participate in this week’s prompt with the topic “How has your perspective on life changed over time”. Honestly this topic reminded me of some crazy things I used to do when I was coming up as a child. I believe I did all that because I’ve not yet understood what life is all about. Now I know better and I will be sharing my story of how my perspective on life changed over the years.

Old Perspective
Some years back I used to have this belief that life is all about enjoying the beautiful moment to the fullest, without minding about any precaution or consequences. I used to think that “whatever I do as a child will not affect me in the future”. I had this notion that as a child you are bound to make mistakes and you won’t be held accountable for your actions because ‘you are just a child’. I held this belief for so long that I don’t even think before making decisions, even though I was just a child. One terrible mistake I made was when I started my junior secondary school which is equivalent to the 7th, 8th and 9th grade of the educational system. I really took my studies for granted. I am sound academically but I don’t do personal studies in order to grow. I only depend on the teaching held in the class that’s all. Even during exams, I and some group of friends play so much that we don’t mind passing our exams or not, but because some of us are sound academically to an extent that is why we were able to scale through all the classes without repeating any.
Luckily for me I was transferred to a different school where I had no regular friends to join me in my playful activities. That was when I began to think of some things I do which I’m not supposed to. I began to question some of my decisions and also think deep before acting. Transformation took place in me like magic.

New Perspective
All thanks to my Biology teacher who happens to be the cause of my transformation. I began to think and question my decisions because of a statement he made in class, and the statement in quote “The decisions you make today will determine your tomorrow”. He further preached to us that the decisions we make today and act upon will determine who we become tomorrow. If you don’t devote your time and effort to your studies now then you are planning to become illiterate tomorrow, and ‘Illiteracy is worse than a deadly disease’, he quotes in his words. Those words keep ringing in my head. That made me realize that whatever I do today will determine my tomorrow. I was touched by his words and that made me have a new perspective about life. My new perspective about life made me be very conscious of my words and actions till date.

In conclusion, I can gladly say that my perspectives on life changes for good because I now understand that there is a future consequence to every wrong decision I make. As the saying goes "What goes around comes around" therefore I will encourage everyone to be conscious of their decisions and actions.

Thank you for reading through the my entry for the week!
